Liverpool FC's Glen Johnson out for weeks with groin injury Glen Johnson will miss Liverpool’s entire festive schedule after limping out of the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United. The experienced right-back confirmed that he had torn his groin midway through the first half at Old Trafford and is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Johnson, who is out of contract at the end of the season, will have a scan to confirm the full extent of the damage.
However, the
initial fears are that he’s likely to be out for at least a month. His absence is likely to mean Javier Manquillo, who didn’t even make the bench at Old Trafford, will earn a recall for Wednesday’s Capital One Cup quarter-final trip to Bournemouth.
Fellow full-back Jon Flanagan is on the comeback trail after missing the first half of the campaign due to a knee injury.
But the Academy graduate isn’t expected to be fit enough to return to action until mid-January.
