Former Liverpool FC boss Rafael Benitez has landed Real Madrid job, reports suggest

Former Liverpool FC boss Rafael Benitez will become the next coach of Real Madrid, according to the Italian media.

Benitez is currently in charge of Napoli, who he joined in the summer of 2013. The Spaniard has won the Coppa Italia with the Serie A side, as well as leading them to this season’s Europa League semi-final.

But Gazzetta dello Sport claims he has decided not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the season, and will instead replace Carlo Ancelotti in the Spanish capital.Ancelotti’s job at Real is under threat after a disappointing season with the club failing to win La Liga or retain the Champions League.

Benitez rejected at least three advances from the Spanish giants during his six-year reign at Liverpool, but has supposedly been lured by the club he began his coaching career with.

He spent seven years with Real Madrid Castilla before becoming coach of Real Madrid 'B' in 1993.

The Spaniard, who rose to prominence after two La Liga titles with Valencia, has also been linked with a move to West Ham.

Napoli is now almost in Rafa Benitez' past, and the Spanish coach is now the favorite for the Real Madrid coaching job.
Florentino Perez had tried to convince Benitez to join the Merengues back in 2009 but back then Rafa had no intention of leaving Liverpool, but things have changed.
The current Napoli coach is the favorite to replace Ancelotti on Real Madrid's bench, the conversations are on going and the negotiation is being lead by Rafa's agent Quilon- both parties are eager to close the deal. Perez may beg getting his man 6 years later.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has emerged as a leading candidate to become the next Real Madrid manager.
Current Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is widely expected to leave his post after this weekend's final game of the season against Getafe.
Talks between the parties are under way, with 55-year-old Benitez's Napoli contract due to expire next month, although no agreement has been reached.
West Ham have also made contact with the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss.
Sam Allardyce, currently preparing West Ham for Sunday's game at Newcastle, is set for talks about his future early next week.
Benitez began his coaching career at Real Madrid B and has also managed Valladolid, Osasuna, Extremadura, Tenerife, Valencia and Inter Milan.
While at Liverpool, he famously led the side to victory in the 2005 Champions League final and also tasted success in the FA Cup and Uefa Super Cup.
In a brief spell in charge of Chelsea in the 2012-13 season, he steered the Blues to victory in the Europa League.
During his time in Italy with Napoli, he has won the Coppa Italia and led the club to the semi-finals of this season's Europa League.

Real Madrid will likely release Ancelotti, while Milan monitors the situation: the updates

It appears that Ancelotti's time at Real Madrid is coming to an end.
This evening's meeting between intermediary Bronzetti and Florentino Perez confirmed the fact the Italian coach is on his way out, the situation will likely be resolved by releasing him from his contract rather than sacking him.
Tomorrow Perez will meet with the Merengues' board to share the decision with them, which is a mandatory step at Real Madrid.

Where will Ancelotti go next? Carletto's wife is open to a return to Milano to be closer to their daughter who will have another baby soon.
But there is the sporting aspect to evaluate, that is the area that gives Ancelotti the most doubts, everything depends on the type of project presented to the Italian coach by Milan. There is a chance Ancelotti will return to Italy.
