Cassano set for Samp return Former Parma striker Antonio Cassano has agreed a deal to return to Sampdoria, according to reports. The Italian international spent four successful seasons with the Blucerchiati between 2007 and 2011, making 115 appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 38 assists. However, the fiery forward fell out with then-President Riccardo Garrone, and was sold to Milan, before going on to play for Inter and Parma.
Cassano walked away from his contract with the Ducali amidst their financial woes last season, and has been a free agent ever since.
According to Il Secolo XIX, the 33-year-old has already agreed a contract to return to Samp, with President Massimo Ferrero just waiting for the right time to announce the move.
That announcement could even arrive today, as Coach Walter Zenga would likely welcome a distraction, having seen his side eliminated from the Europa League at the first hurdle.
