West Ham bid for Hull striker Nikica Jelavic - sources
West Ham United have made a bid for Hull City striker Nikica Jelavic, sources have told ESPN FC.
The Hammers have been scouring the transfer market for a new striker, and have turned their attentions to Jelavic.
Hull are resigned to losing Jelavic following their relegation to the Championship, and the Croatian was left out of the side for Saturday's 2-0 win over Preston.
After the game, Hull boss Steve Bruce said: "We had a bid late last night. Actually, two clubs have shown their hand and with that going on I didn't think it was right [to play him].
"At the end of the day, if he goes I've got to go with the players that are going to be here."
He added: "We'll see what happens over the next 24 to 48 hours, but come Tuesday I would expect Jelavic to be gone."
Sources have told ESPN FC West Ham were the club that made the bid for Jelavic, and that the player had been given permission to travel to London for talks.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic worked with the 30-year-old former Rangers and Everton forward during his time as Croatia boss.
