Zlatan Ibrahimovic set a record for league goals in a single season by a Paris Saint-Germain player, saying farewell on Saturday night with a brace in a comprehensive 4-0 win over Nantes in Ligue 1.Playing his last game at the Parc des Princes, veteran striker Ibrahimovic moved to 38 league goals for the season, taking him one ahead of Carlos Bianchi who managed 37 in the 1977-78 campaign. The match in the French capital was stopped briefly in the 10th minute as fans gave Ibrahimovic - whose PSG shirt is No. 10 - a standing ovation. He was also cheered from the field before the final whistle, holding his two sons in his arms who were wearing shirts with 'King' and 'Legend' on the back. The names were in reference to their father's 'I came like a king, left like a legend' post on social media before the game.
The Sweden international, who will leave PSG when his contract expires in the summer, netted in the 17th and 89th minutes to surpass the goal record set by Bianchi.
The first-half opener came just seven minutes after the home crowd paid tribute to Ibrahimovic, who was made skipper for the night by his manager Laurent Blanc, with a standing ovation.
He used his chest to connect with a cross from former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria at the far post to break the deadlock and was also involved in the build-up to PSG's second goal two minutes before half-time from Lucas Moura.
And after Marquinhos added a third seven minutes after the interval, Ibrahimovic had the final say with his record-breaking headed effort at the death.
It prompted emotional scenes for the Swedish striker towards the end of the game when his two sons ran on to the pitch.
Ibrahimovic's two children were wearing PSG shirts - one with 'King' and the other with 'Legend' on the back - and were picked up by their father as they left the field before the referee had blown the final whistle.
The shirts were in reference to their father's 'I came like a king, left like a legend' post on social media earlier this week when he announced he would be moving on from the French capital this summer.
Ibrahimovic leaves PSG after the French Cup final on May 21 before leading Sweden at Euro 2016.
He has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United among the favourites to sign him in the coming months.
'I'm filled with emotion, these four years will remain in my heart,' said Ibrahimovic, who joined PSG in the summer of 2012.
He continued: 'Hopefully the team will continue to win a lot,' before adding 'without Ibra, it's difficult but it's possible.'
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also paid tribute to the striker as the team enjoyed their title celebrations.
'You're a PSG legend, you're PSG's best scorer. We will never forget what you did for the club,' he said.
Ibrahimovic is yet to announce his plans for the future and will hope to lead PSG to a league and cup double against bitter rivals Marseille later this month. But what is certain is that the 34-year-old will go down as one of the French club's best ever players when he moves on.
Although he couldn't help deliver the Champions League to the Qatari-owned club, he was last week named the French league's best player for the third time in four seasons.
PSG finished the season with a record 96 league points, 31 more than Lyon who finished in second behind them.
They scored 102 goals in 38 league matches, with Ibrahimovic responsible for nearly 40 per cent of those on his own.
