Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is expected to miss the Champions League final because of a muscle injury.

The La Liga club revealed tests conducted on Sunday showed the France international had sustained a "grade 2 injury" in his left thigh muscle.

Madrid said Varane's "recovery will continue to be assessed," but he is likely to be sidelined for about three weeks because of the ailment.

Madrid will try to win an 11th Champions League title when they play cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid in the final of Europe's elite-club competition next Saturday in Milan.

The injury should not derail Real's preparations ahead of the tie at the San Siro, with Varane behind Zinedine Zidane's preferred defenders Sergio Ramos and Pepe.

皇馬日前向外發表聲明，證實這名法國中堅受傷的消息：「經過測試後，華拉尼被診斷左腳大腿肌肉受到了第二程度的損害，其康復情況將會繼續評估。」英國《每日郵報》報道，這名年青中堅應趕不及周六舉行的歐聯決賽中上陣，屆時皇馬的中堅拍擋，應會由隊長沙治奧拉莫斯伙拍比比出任。

《每日郵報》更指出，入選了法國國家隊出戰歐國盃決賽周23人大軍名單的華拉尼，或可能因傷而未能趕及回復狀態，6月為國家隊上陣，對教練迪甘斯而言，亦不是有利的消息。主辦國法國在歐國盃賽事被編入A組，與羅馬尼亞、阿爾巴尼亞和瑞士同組。
