Dwight Gayle to undergo Newcastle medical ahead of £10m move Newcastle United look set to complete their second signing of the summer after reports Dwight Gayle is on his way to Tyneside for a medical. The Crystal Palace striker has been linked with a move to the Magpies as Rafa Benitez looks to strengthen his attack. And reports this lunchtime suggest Gayle is now on his way to St James's Park for a medical ahead of a £10million move. Sources claim that the striker has already discussed personal terms with the Magpies and will put pen to paper on a five-year deal within the next 24 hours. Gayle has dropped out of the Palace reckoning under Alan Pardew, but has experience of playing in the Championship, having bagged 13 goals in 29 games at that level for Peterborough.
Benitez had been keen to add some pace to his forward line, and has earmarked the 25-year-old for that role.
Gayle had been linked with moves to Championship rivals Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday.
He could be joined at Newcastle this week by Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie, who has been strongly linked with the Magpies over the last 24 hours.
The club sealed the signing of goalkeeper Matz Sels from Belgian side Gent earlier today.
