Fernando Torres has signed up for another season at Atletico Madrid . The striker's contract with the Rojiblancos ended late last week, casting some doubt over his future.
But the club announced on Monday lunchtime that Torres has agreed a new deal at the club for the campaign ahead.
The 32-year-old returned to boyhood club Atleti from Chelsea in 2015 after a failed loan spell with AC Milan.
He scored six times in 26 appearances for Diego Simeone's side in the second half of the 2014/15 season, but kicked on last term after finding some of the spark of old.
Torres scored 12 goals in 44 games as Atleti came close to winning both La Liga and the Champions League, only to come up just short in both competitions.
He was the preferred partner for Antoine Griezmann towards the end of the season and will link up with the Frenchman – who also penned a new deal this summer – again next term.
