Mile Jedinak in line to join Aston Villa from Crystal Palace - sources Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Australia midfielder Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC. Palace are willing to let Jedinak move on as he is well down the pecking order in Alan Pardew's plans at Selhurst Park. Socceroos skipper Jedinak has lost the captaincy at Palace this season after he struggled to hold down a regular spot in Pardew's starting XI last term. A number of clubs have been monitoring Jedinak's situation at Palace, but Villa have moved to try and bring the 32-year-old to Villa Park.
Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo is desperate to bolster his squad before the close of the transfer window after losing his first two games in charge, including the humiliating 3-1 loss to League Two Luton Town in the EFL Cup in midweek.
Di Matteo sees Jedinak's leadership qualities and experience as a vital addition to his squad as he looks to try and transform Villa's fortunes.
