Steve Parish is hopeful Crystal Palace will sign on-loan Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on a permanent basis, but insists the deal must work for both Premier League clubs. The France international joined the Eagles in January and played a vital role in keeping them in the top-flight.Sky Sports News HQ understands that Sakho has no future at Liverpool and will be allowed to leave in the summer if the club's £30m valuation is met. "The money needs to work for us and for Liverpool and I'm sure there will be a negotiation on that and, if we can make it work, of course we'd like to," Palace co-owner Parish told Holmesdale Radio.
"I'm not going to try and be coy about it, he's a very, very good player and I think he likes being with us and we like him, so let's hope we can do it."
Sakho helped Palace keep four clean sheets and record five victories in eight league matches before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the 1-0 loss to Tottenham in April.
He has since remained with the club and watched from the stands as Palace defeated Hull 4-0 on Super Sunday to make sure of Premier League survival.
Parish added: "The player could have gone anywhere once he was injured, he could have gone back to Liverpool but he has been with us and was there on Sunday.
"You can't be more impressed with that, you can't con anyone that he didn't make a massive difference to us, we won some massive games with him.
"He's a really nice person, he's a big character, he's got the respect of all the players and it's one we'd like to do but of course we have a lot of things we need to do in the summer."
