World Cup 2010: Slovakia's Martin Skrtel Relieved After Injury Scare Proves Unfounded
Slovak told to rest for couple of days
Liverpool and Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel is relieved that his ankle injury will not keep him out of the World Cup.
Skrtel limped out of Slovakia’s 3-0 friendly win over Costa Rica after only 16 minutes, and was rushed to hospital for scans. But he has been told to rest for a couple of days before returning to action.
"It is not too bad, it is just a gash," Skrtel told the Slovakian Football Association's website.
"I think that in a few days it will be okay."
Skrtel also praised his team-mates' display as they comfortably beat Costa Rica.
"I saw the second half," he added. "I think we will have delighted the fans. We wanted to win this match to put ourselves in a good place before the World Cup. We managed that.
"Perhaps the only negative is my injury, because to go off after quarter of an hour is not nice."
