Veteran midfielder George Boateng trains with Celtic
Dutch midfielder George Boateng is training with Celtic with a view to signing for Neil Lennon's team.
The 34-year-old's contract with Hull City expired at the end of last season and he is available on a free transfer. The former Netherlands international made his name at Feyenoord in the 1990s then joined Gordon Strachan's Coventry.
The defensive midfielder moved to Aston Villa in 1999 for £4.5m, making 134 appearances, before signing in 2002 for Middlesbrough for £5m.
With Steve McLaren as manager, Boateng played in the Uefa Cup final in his home country when Boro were beaten 4-0 by Sevilla in Eindhoven.
Ghana-born Boateng spent the last two seasons at Hull's KC Stadium but left the club after they were relegated from the Premier League in May.
His arrival at the Scottish Premier League side's Lennoxtown training ground follows Sol Campbell's, another sign that the new manager is keen to add experience to the ranks as Celtic try to prise the Scottish Premier League title from Rangers.
Lennon has released midfielders Zheng Zhi and Koki Mizuno, but has added defenders Charlie Mulgrew and Cha Du-Ri as he seeks to rebuild the squad.
