Carra out for three months
Reds ace set for surgery on Friday

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has confirmed he is likely to be out of action for three months with a dislocated shoulder.

Carragher suffered the injury in Sunday's defeat to Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

The 32-year-old underwent a thorough examination at the club's training ground on Monday as the club waited to find out if the defender required surgery.

And the club's worst fears have been confirmed with Carragher set to go under the knife on Friday ruling him out for three months.

Carragher has revealed he is unlikely to be back before the end of February and the veteran defender admits he finds it frustrating on the sidelines.

"I'll be having surgery at the end of the week," Carragher told the club's official website.

"The average is about 12 weeks. I'd like to come back before that but I've got to make sure it's right.

"It will probably be late February or early March when I'm looking to come back.

Difficult

"It's difficult for me when I'm injured. It hasn't happened very often, and I'm very lucky with that I suppose, but maybe it's caught up with me a little bit now.

"I've been here before with a broken leg which put me out this length of time.

"It's not easy but you've got to get on with it, and it makes you more determined to get back.

"I'm sure towards the end of the season when people are maybe feeling a little bit tired I'll be raring to go."

The injury is a major blow for Reds boss Roy Hodgson as he is already short of options at the back with Daniel Agger still on the sidelines.

Daniel has not featured since September 25 due to sickness and a calf problem. In his latest assessment Dr Peter Brukner told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We expect him to be back in full training in a couple of weeks and available for selection before Christmas."
