Madrid reach an agreement with Navas who will sign for five years
The Levante goalkeeper is waiting in Costa Rica for the call to travel to Spain.

Real Madrid and Keylor Navas have reached an agreement over the keeper’s contract terms and he will sign for five years.
It was simply a question of time and that time has now come.
Once Real Madrid had accepted Levante’s conditions for the transfer (10 million euros), completing the deal was an easy process.
Keylor Navas is currently training on his own on the beaches of Costa Rica while he waits for the phone call that will send him jetting to Madrid for his presentation in the Bernabeu.

Levante now do not expect to see the player again, apart from a visit to say goodbye to his former teammates.

Real Madrid have not ruled out making an announcement today or tomorrow about the keeper’s presentation,
which will be the third of the summer at the Bernabeu after those of Kroos and James Rodriguez.
In fact Jose Angel Sanchez and other executives were meant to be travelling to Los Angeles yesterday to join the squad on their US tour, but in the end they delayed their flights.
That said, the desire at Real Madrid is to try and organise the exit of one of the current keepers, either Diego Lopez or Iker Casillas, before Keylor Navas comes in.
This is proving to be no easy task and may delay the announcement of Navas’ arrival at the club.

Navas on Real move: "It's round the corner"

Keylor Navas, the goalkeeper that Real Madrid have been after for some time now, believes that all will come to a head this coming week.
Quizzed in a Movistar chat about his future, the Costa Rica and Levante keeper answered,
"I would love to say something right now, but it's something I don't know for sure yet. It's round the corner,
we hope that next week it will all be sorted, so that I and my family can calm down a little, and to be able to tell everyone where our new home is to be.
There will be time enough to tell everyone what my new situation is going to be."
Keylor Navas' words are in line with those said by Levante president Quico Catalan,
who said that the next seven days would be key to knowing where the goalkeeper's future lies.
All information points to it being at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Navas growing impatient over lack of news from Real Madrid
Levante are considering having him report for training next week if his move to Real is not confirmed.

Keylor Navas is still waiting for the call to travel to Madrid.
It is 24 days since he began his summer break in the wake of Costa Rica's World Cup defeat to the Netherlands,
and the goalkeeper is anxious for Real Madrid to confirm the agreement over his transfer so he can begin work under Carlo Ancelotti as soon as possible.
However, an announcement of the deal, which has been finalised between Real, Levante and the player, still awaits the departure of Diego Lopez or Iker Casillas.

Navas is still within the holiday period set by Los Blancos for the internationals involved until at least the quarter-finals at Brazil 2014.
James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane will link up with the squad for training at Valdebebas on 1 August, and Navas still aims to be in the Spanish capital as well.
Indeed, the return date for Real's internationals led Levante's president, Quico Catalan, to venture last Saturday: "There'll be news on Keylor next week".
Real Madrid had indicated to Catalan that the Costa Rican would join up at the same time as James, Benzema and Varane but,
according to those within his immediate camp, the player’s flight to Spain still hasn’t been booked.

Real are yet to solve the core issue brought about by Navas’ signing, which is that Ancelotti would have three top-level goalkeepers in the same squad.
Efforts are being made to avoid such a situation at all costs, but the goalkeeping tangle that Navas’ arrival would cause at Madrid is not an easy one to resolve.
Diego Lopez and Casillas want to stay, neither will ask to leave and, if they do go, they want what they're owed contractually.
Furthermore, they would seek salaries on a level with what they currently have at the Santiago Bernabeu, and their pay packets are out of reach for many clubs in Europe.
On top of that, the Champions League holders don’t want to help strengthen potential rivals in Europe’s top club competition.

Levante are certain that the official announcement of the deal for Navas is a “matter of days” away.
Nevertheless, the Liga BBVA outfit are also beginning to evaluate what to do with the 27-year-old if confirmation does not arrive this week.
With Levante assuming before the World Cup that the keeper would leave in the close-season (in spite of a lack of firm offers at the time),
he travelled to Brazil with no date set for his return. However, if Navas is not officially a Real Madrid player by 4 August –
the date on which Levante come back from their pre-season tour in the Netherlands – he will be summoned to report for training.

Real Madrid have confirmed a deal to sign Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas on a six-year deal.

A statement on the club’s official website announced that the Costa Rican will undergo a medical on Tuesday 5 August, before being unveiled at 13:00 local time.

Real Madrid C. F. and Levante U. D. have reached an agreement for the transfer of Keylor Navas, who has signed to the club for the next six seasons.

The player will be presented on Tuesday 5 August at 13:00, in the president’s box in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, after undergoing the corresponding medical.

Subsequently, Keylor Navas will step out onto the turf in the Santiago Bernabéu for the first time in a Real Madrid shirt and will speak to the press in the press room.

The Costa Rican goalkeeper had an outstanding World Cup in Brazil, taking his side to the quarter-finals for the first time in their history.


Keylor Navas (San Isidro, Costa Rica, 1986) is now a Real Madrid player. After being one of the stars of last season, he later showed the world his immense quality at the World Cup.

His saves took Costa Rica to the quarter finals for the first time in history, consolidating himself as one of the best keepers in the world.

He is quick, has great reflexes, always positions himself well and is one of the best in one-to-ones; Keylor Navas has everything it takes to be an exceptional keeper.

He demonstrated it in Brazil, where he only let in two goals in five matches and nullified teams such as Holland, England and Italy with his shot-stopping.

Having won three man of the match awards, he was a candidate for the Golden Glove at the World Cup.

His breakthrough season

His true arrival came last season: he made more stops than any other keeper in La Liga (160) had the greatest percentage of saves of anyone who played more than five matches (80.1%).

Having conceded 39 goals in 37 matches, he helped Levante finish the season in fifth place on the table for the fewest goals conceded, only behind the four Champions League teams.

Before arriving in Europe, he took his first steps as a player at Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica, where he won two league titles, two winter and two summer championships,

as well as a CONCACAF Copa de Campeones. In 2010 he signed for Albacete and, after an outstanding season there, he moved to Levante.

At 27 years of age, and after being the hero of the World Cup’s surprise package, he arrived at Real Madrid to provide even more steel to the European champions.
