Everton remain keen to sign Romelu Lukaku and are also interested in the striker's Chelsea team-mate Christian Atsu, according to Sky Sports sources. Lukaku impressed on loan at Goodison Park last season and Everton would need to sign the Belgium international permanently in order to also bring in Ghanaian winger Atsu on loan from Chelsea.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has hinted that he is hopeful of landing Romelu Lukaku on a permanent deal.

Belgium striker Lukaku spent last season on loan at Goodison Park from Chelsea,

quickly winning the affection of the fans, scoring 15 Premier League goals in 31 appearances.

Everton are currently on tour in Thailand and,

when asked by a supporter if there was a possibility of the club re-signing the 21-year-old, Martinez replied: "Of course, we'll get him."

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Italian champions Juventus have also been linked with £20million bids for Lukaku.

On Saturday, Sky Bet suspended betting on Lukaku's next club after a string of wagers were placed on Wolfsburg winning the race.

Wolfsburg head coach Dieter Hecking told Sky Sports News: "There are a lot of good strikers in England, and for sure Romelu Lukaku is one of them.

"We showed our interest, but the transfer window is open until the 31 August,

so a lot of things will happen. A lot of rumours about Wolfsburg, and you'll be one of the first to know if we have our striker."

Transfer news: Romelu Lukaku appears close to Chelsea exit for 'new chapter'



Romelu Lukaku appears to be on his way out of Chelsea after posting a tweet through his official account hinting that he is ready for the next challenge in his career.

The striker has been linked with Everton, Wolfsburg and Juventus this summer

after struggling to force his way into the first-team picture at Chelsea since his arrival from Anderlecht in 2011.

Despite the summer departures of strikers Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o, the 21-year-old’s first-team chances at Stamford Bridge look bleak

following Chelsea’s capture of Diego Costa and the return of Didier Drogba.

Along with a photo of himself on an aeroplane, Lukaku tweeted: "Time to write a new chapter."

The tweet caused online bookmaker Sky Bet to cease trading on his next destination, with an announcement seemingly imminent.

Everton were 1/4 favourites before the plug was pulled, with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg rated 5/1, followed by Serie A champions Juventus at 8/1.

Lukaku mustered just eight Premier League appearances in his first season at Chelsea and failed to find the find the back of the net.

The following season saw the striker loaned to West Brom where he scored 17 league goals in 35 appearances, helping the club to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

The Belgium international spent last season on loan at Everton where he became a fans’ favourite at Goodison Park after netting 15 times in 35 Premier League matches.
