Reports suggest Adidas have come forward with a proposal for a $100m-a-year deal for 10 years, and that Nike are refusing to match those record numbers.

"Manchester United is a great club with passionate fans," Nike spokesman Nigel Powell said in a statement.

"We are proud to have partnered with them for the last 12 years and will continue to sponsor the club until the end of the 2014-15 season.

"Any partnership with a club or federation has to be mutually beneficial and the terms that were on offer for a renewed contract

did not represent good value for Nike's shareholders. We look forward to a successful final season with the club."

The American sportswear giant has been making United's kits since 2002 and were most recently paying $40m per year on the deal.

The reported $100m per year deal would be the biggest in sport.

曼聯球衣贊助醞釀改朝換代，話唔定下年由一剔轉三間！Nike 話曼聯獅子開大口，成績咁鬼差仲夠膽死要求天價續約，打算放棄紅魔。吼咗曼聯好耐嘅 adidas 就最開心，可以同曼聯傾新約。

曼聯同一剔份約到下年夏天屆滿，而家曼聯每年坐收 4,100 萬美元贊助費，另外仲有分紅，例如喺 12/13 球季，紅魔實收 6,470 萬美元。不過，曼聯嘅胃口相當大，雖然佢哋上季俾莫天才玩到得聯賽第7、下屆冇份踢歐聯，但仲夠膽向一剔開天價續約，要求一份為期 10 年、總額達 10.3 億美元（約 80 億港元）嘅合約，除一除條數，每年曼聯袋成億美元，高過而家球衣贊助紀錄保持者皇家馬德里成倍，真係唔怪得一剔耍手兼擰頭！

Premier League: Manchester United secure adidas kit deal

Manchester United have agreed a deal with adidas worth a minimum of £750million over 10 years from the 2015-16 season.

The news will be a welcome boost for the Old Trafford club whose performances on the pitch last season were hugely disappointing

but they can now look forward to fresh investment with the new contract doubling the income from previous kit suppliers Nike.

A club statement on Monday read: "Manchester United plc has reached a 10-year agreement with adidas for a global technical sponsorship

and dual branded licensing deal for a minimum guarantee of £750m, subject to certain adjustments, beginning with the 2015/2016 campaign."

Sportswear giants Nike announced on July 9 they had decided not to continue their relationship with United, claiming the Premier League side were demanding too much money.

Last week's statement from Nike, who are set to begin their final season of sponsorship with United, read: "Manchester United is a great club with passionate fans.

We are proud to have partnered with them for the last 12 years and will continue to sponsor the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Nike's original deal was worth £303m, with extra income from a profit share agreement from merchandise sold worldwide.

On July 7, United unveiled their new home kit for the 2014-15 season - which will be the last designed by Nike and the first to bear the logo of new sponsor Chevrolet.

United announced they would be entering a seven-year agreement - worth a reported £53million per season - with the US car giant from this summer back in 2012.

Incoming manager Louis van Gaal, who helped steer the Netherlands to third place in the World Cup at the weekend,

will head to the United States to pick up the reins for the first time as United begin their overseas tour on Friday July 18.

格拉沙家族周三宣佈，再出售部份曼聯股權集資，而在招股文件中，披露了球會與 adidas 這份新贊助合約的細節。由 15/16 球季起，adidas 會成為曼聯的球衣贊助，為期 10 年，每年贊助費為 7,500 萬鎊，但若曼聯連續兩屆失去歐聯資格的話，金額便會下降 3 成至 5,250 萬鎊；直至重新出戰歐聯，贊助費才會提升至原來水平。

因此，曼聯來季的成績非常重要，萬一再度失去前 4 名，便會失去 2,250 萬鎊的收入。不過，合約條款有賞有罰，如果曼聯奪得英超、英足盃或歐聯錦標，每年贊助費最多可以增加 400 萬鎊。
