Ben Davies & Michel Vorm join Spurs, Swansea sign Sigurdsson

Tottenham have signed Swansea City pair Ben Davies and Michel Vorm, with Gylfi Sigurdsson moving the other way.
Wales full-back Davies, 21, joins on a five-year deal and Netherlands goalkeeper Vorm, 30, has agreed a four-year contract with the Londoners.
Iceland international midfielder Sigurdsson, 24, has signed a four-year deal with Swansea.
He spent 2011-12 on loan at the Liberty Stadium from German club Hoffenheim, scoring seven goals in 18 appearances.
Spurs are thought to have fought off stiff competition for Davies, with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers understood to be an admirer.
But Davies said Spurs were "the ones chasing me from the beginning" and that joining the north London club was "too good an opportunity to turn down".
He told Swansea's official website:  "I had never thought or wanted to leave Swansea, but an opportunity like this doesn't come up often in your career."



Davies made his debut for the Swans as a 19-year-old in August 2012 and quickly established himself as first-choice left-back when Neil Taylor suffered a long-term injury.
His performances impressed Wales manager Chris Coleman, who handed the Neath-born player the first of his 10 caps in the 2-1 win over Scotland in October 2012.
Vorm was part of the Dutch squad that finished third at the Fifa World Cup in Brazil earlier this month,
but his future has looked in doubt at Swansea ever since former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski was signed in May.
He will compete with France number one Hugo Lloris and 43-year-old Brad Friedel for selection at Spurs.

Sigurdsson arrives at the Liberty after spending two seasons at White Hart Lane, scoring eight goals in 58 top-flight appearances for the London club.
He said: "It was tough leaving a club that I've enjoyed playing for over the last few years, but as soon as Swansea came in it was an easy decision to make."
Spanish forward Michu has left Swansea to join Napoli on loan, while winger Pablo Hernandez is believed to be on the brink of a move to Al Arabi in Qatar.
Swansea boss Garry Monk has also signed ex-Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis and Middlesbrough forward Marvin Emnes.

Premier League: Swansea seal signing of Falkirk defender Stephen Kingsley



Swansea have completed the signing of Falkirk defender Stephen Kingsley.

The Swans announced that left-back Kingsley, 19, had completed a medical and signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Kingsley has made more than 100 appearances for the Bairns, making his senior debut as a 16-year-old, in addition to representing Scotland at Under-18 and Under-19 levels.

The young Scot was part of the squad beaten in a Championship play-off by Hamilton for the right to play Hibernian.

Kingsley will join fellow former Falkirk player Jay Fulton to the Liberty Stadium.

The 20-year-old midfielder made the move midway through last season and quickly impressed manager Garry Monk on the training ground

and made his first Premier League appearance as a substitute in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa in April.

He made his first senior start in the final game of the season at Sunderland.

Tottenham are locked in talks with Swansea over the potential transfer of Ben Davies, according to Sky sources.

The 21-year-old left-back, who thrived for the Swans last season, has become one of new manager Mauricio Pochettino's top transfer targets this summer.

A deal was agreed in principle for the Wales international to move to White Hart Lane last week,

but Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins pulled out of the arrangement in search of a better offer.

Spurs, however, remain determined to capture Davies, who is valued by the Welsh club at £12million, and have begun fresh negotiations over a possible sale

Swansea are thought to be very reluctant to sell a player who has made 71 appearances for the club since his debut in 2012.

Davies became a regular during the 2012-13 season following long-term injury to defender Neil Taylor, excelling under both previous manager Michael Laudrup and current boss Garry Monk.

Davies, who has 10 caps for Wales, signed a one-year contract extension last year that keeps him tied to the Liberty Stadium until 2017.

Tottenham, though, are in need of a left-back, with centre-back Jan Vertonghen filling in for the injured Danny Rose for large periods of last season.

Reports last month suggested they had moved for Sevilla youngster Alberto Moreno, but Tottenham are not interested in the Spaniard.

Other than getting midfielder Sigurdsson back, Swansea will bank around £5m.
Tottenham had seen a bid to land Davies and Vorm in a straight swap for Sigurdsson rejected by Swansea.
But chairmen Daniel Levy and Huw Jenkins eventually settled on a transfer that is thought to value both Davies and Sigurdsson at £10m, and Vorm at £5m.
Left-back Davies was due to travel with Spurs to Toronto on Sunday and remain on the club’s pre-season tour, as Swansea return from their own American training camp.

Sigurdsson was pulled out of Tottenham’s opening US tour game against Seattle Sounders on Saturday to prevent the risk of injury ahead of his Swansea switch.
The Iceland international spent a successful five-month loan spell at Swansea in 2012, scoring seven goals in 19 games.
Swansea agreed a fee to sign Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim on a permanent deal at the end of that season, but he instead moved to Spurs for £8.8m.
Goalkeeper Vorm is still enjoying a break after being part of Holland’s World Cup squad.
Despite convincing both Hugo Lloris and veteran Brad Friedel to sign new contracts, Tottenham had been keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
Davies and Vorm are Tottenham’s first signings since Mauricio Pochettino took over as head coach.
Liverpool were interested in both players, but Swansea’s interest in Sigurdsson proved to be crucial.
