Vicente Del Bosque has confirmed that he will stay at the helm of the Spanish national team,
aware that there’ll be plenty of tough decisions to make with future teams, but clear that there’ll be no sweeping changes.
At a press call, whilst attending his summer football campus for children, Vicente Del Bosque lifted any doubts about his future as Spain manager. “I’ve been in contact with the Federation throughout this time of reflection. We’ve done a lot of good over the last six games, before these two bad games at the World Cup.
They have valued my work. We’ll move forward with strength and we’ll carry on with our work, the same as always.” Looking ahead to the future, Del Bosque is positive that La Roja will bounce back to their best,
explaining that he won’t be making wholesale changes to how things are done, but he will adapt areas that are in need of attention.
“We’re planing for the games we have to come, knowing that we’ll have some difficult footballing decisions to make, just as we always have.”
“There isn’t going to be a drastic revolution.
We’ll follow the same path we always have, but with a few tweaks. We know we can do much better and get ourselves back on the right track. Our intention is to defend our title at the next European Championship.”
As for the criticism levelled at the Spanish squad during the World Cup, particularly the suggestion that they were poor losers,
Del Bosque admitted his frustration at such a suggestion, clear in his mind that’s not the case.
“I’ve heard some accusations that suggest we don’t know how to lose, which frustrates me, because I think we’ve all accepted that we were beaten by superior opponents.”
