Kaka set to sign for Orlando City in second high-profile MLS signing this summer after David Villa

Brazilian midfielder Kaka is set to become a high-profile signing for new Major League Soccer franchise Orlando City, according to reports.
The 32-year-old will be loaned to Sao Paulo, the club where his career began, before taking on the MLS in 2015.
The AC Milan midfielder will become the second big name to cross the Atlantic this summer after Spanish striker David Villa signed for New York City.

Kaka is currently in his second spell with AC Milan having spent four years at Real Madrid in between.
The Brazilian, who scored 29 goals in 87 caps for his country, holds a Champions League winner's medal as well as Serie A and La Liga titles.
Kaka told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera in March: 'One day, I would like to play in America.
At the end of the season, I will talk to [general manager Adriano Galliani]. Not just to speak about bonuses and money --
money is not the main thing for me now, and I think that is understood.
'I want to see what his ideas are and what the club’s ideas are. If it turns out I need to move, I will choose the MLS.'

Report: Orlando City set to sign Brazilian star Kaka as expansion club's first Designated Player



The rumors of Brazilian star Kaka joining MLS expansion club Orlando City are gaining new steam.

Multiple outlets, including Spanish sports daily AS, ESPN Brazil and ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman, on Thursday reported
that the AC Milan star and former Ballon d’Or winner will be signing on with the MLS expansion team ahead of its inaugural 2015 season.

They also indicated that the 31-year-old would join either Brazilian side Sao Paulo, his first professional club,
or stay with AC Milan on loan until January 2015, when MLS training camps open.

When contacted by MLSsoccer.com on Thursday, Orlando City declined comment on the reports.
The Brazilian international has long been linked with Orlando City,
a club owned by a friend and compatriot of Kaka's, Flavio Augusto da Silva, and he recently paid an offseason visit to OCSC's training facilities.

“I believe that every team would like to have Kaka in their team, of course, Orlando City as well,”
da Silva told MLSsoccer.com last November at the formal unveiling as the league's 21st expansion team.
“Kaka is a great friend of mine. We already work together with my company in Brazil.
But why not? The only thing I can say right now is that we’re going to bring someone very, very special.”


At the same event, club president Phil Rawlins confirmed that the club had talks with Kaka.
“We’ve had discussions with Kaka," Rawlins said. “He’s very well known to the organization.
We’ll have to see what the next two years bring for him with the World Cup and AC Milan, but if he wants to come here, he’d be very very welcome.
I know he loves Central Florida, his family loves it. We’ll see.”

“Orlando City Soccer Club is in advanced discussions with Kaka. Pending completion of the potential player agreement,

Kaka would join Orlando City SC in January 2015 prior to the Club’s first season in Major League Soccer.

Transfer news: Sao Paulo close on Kaka after verbal agreement



Sao Paulo claim they have reached a verbal agreement with the MLS, Orlando City and AC Milan to take Kaka on loan.

A return to the club where it all began for Kaka has been mooted for some time, with Sao Paulo open in their desire to get a deal done.

Confusion regarding clauses in Kaka’s contract in Italy and interest from America have held things back, but an agreement could now be close.

Kaka is understood to have agreed to link up with Orlando City for their MLS bow in 2015,


but prior to that he could be heading back to his native Brazil to spend six months with Sao Paulo.

Vice-president Ataide Gil Guerreiro told Sportv: “After 60 days of negotiations we have reached an agreement, but there isn’t anything formal yet.

“There are steps to be taken but when it comes to values, there is an agreement between all parties involved – Milan, MLS, Orlando, Kaka and Sao Paulo.

“He will sign a contract with the MLS. Clubs can choose three designated players, Orlando choose Kaka.

“He will undergo a medical and will join Orlando, then he will be loaned to Sao Paulo for six months until December 31.

“Not only is Kaka excited, but he is also physically peaking.

“The problems at Real Madrid were due to arguments and positioning with the manager.

As Milan don’t have a good squad, he has a clause allowing him to leave. He will come to Sao Paulo very motivated.”

While Sao Paulo are of the opinion that a deal is close,

Kaka is remaining tight-lipped on the issue of his future, with the Brazil international reluctant to speculate on what the summer will bring.

He said at a recent event in his homeland: “I’m not leaving Milan. Every year in this period there is a lot of speculation about my future.

“The only certainty is that on July 9 I must go to Milan’s summer training camp.”

Kaka: Sao Paulo return a special day



Former AC Milan star Kaka has expressed his delight after being unveiled at Sao Paulo, where he is now on loan from MLS outfit Orlando City.

The 32-year-old had his contract with the Rossoneri terminated through mutual consent in June, before joining the Florida franchise.

He will play on loan at Sao Paulo, however, until Orlando join MLS for their inaugural season in 2015.

And the midfielder received a rapturous welcome from supporters at his unveiling at Morumbi on Sunday, with over 20,000 fans attending.

"It's an emotional moment, 11 years later, to be back at the club where I've grown up,

where I started in football, to see all the supporters here, my friends and family," said Kaka.

"It's a very special day for me. Sao Paulo rocketed me into world football, and to be back is a memorable and very special day.

"I'm very happy, as my family and children are here too. I can't wait to play.

I'm looking forward to playing alongside these two idols here [goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni and striker Luis Fabiano, both attending the presentation].

"Thank you all, I'm sure this will be very special. I don't know when I'll be back at playing, but I'll try to be back as soon I can."

The former Brazil international also talked about compatriot Neymar's injury, that will prevent him from playing in the rest of the World Cup for the Selecao,

and echoed the sentiment of sadness being expressed throughout the host nation.

"As a lover of football, it's sad news," he added. "Both Brazil and the World Cup lose with his injury.

This is a negative aspect for Brazil considering a technical approach, but I hope the team can take this as a motivation for this final rounds of the World Cup.

"What Neymar is going through is something unique... He's going through a hard situation, being out of a World Cup in his own country.

We are now crying for him, but we'll have reasons to smile in the future."
