Birmingham International Holdings Limited update

Birmingham International Holdings Limited, the holding company of Birmingham City Football Club,
made an announcement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend.
The announcement, which can be found HERE, confirms that BIHL has received an indicative,
non-binding offer from a third party in relation to a possible acquisition of a minority interest in Birmingham City PLC.

Further to this, acting chairman Peter Pannu has added:
“I can confirm that BIHL remains in advanced talks with a British consortium with a very strong North American investment fund.

“However, specific details cannot be disclosed at this moment in time due to non-disclosure agreements and HKSE regulations.
There are many technical issues still to be resolved and legal representatives from both parties remain in advanced discussions to pave the way forward.”

The club will endeavour to update supporters first and foremost as and when there are further developments
and would like to take this opportunity to thank fans for their patience during this process.

Birmingham holding company unwilling to sell whole club

By Richard Wilford
BBC WM Sport

Birmingham City's holding company says it is only willing to offer a 24% stake in the club amid takeover talks.
The club received an offer to take over all or part of the club on 21 May from an unnamed third party.
The board of the club's holding company, Birmingham International Holdings Limited, discussed the offer at a meeting on Friday.
Trading in the shares of BIHL was temporarily suspended on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to confirm the interest.
An official statement stressed no formal agreement had been reached.
"The company will make additional statements as and when appropriate," a statement said.
"Shareholders of the company and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when making any decision related to dealing in the shares of the company."
At this point there is no further clarification on who has made the bid, or whether is likely to find favour with BIHL.
In recent weeks there has been rumoured interest from two UK-based consortia as well as further potential bidders from China, Australia and Qatar.
The cash-strapped Championship club has been open to offers since owner Carson Yeung was jailed for six years in March for money-laundering.
Currently manager Lee Clark, after steering Blues to safety on the season's final day, is unable to properly budget for the rebuilding of his squad for the 2014-15 campaign.

Sky Bet Championship: Birmingham targeted for takeover by UK consortium

A UK-based consortium, headed by Mike Farnan and Adam Pearson, have entered the race to buy Sky Bet Championship outfit Birmingham City.

Farnan was among those in the running to take control at Leeds United prior to Massimo Cellino’s successful purchase of the club.

He has now turned his attention to another second tier side, with Birmingham looking for fresh investment.

The Blues revealed in May that they were in ‘advanced discussions’ with a British consortium, but no agreement has been reached as yet.

Farnan hopes his proposal will help to force the issue, with the former Manchester United director of the opinion that there is considerable potential at St Andrew’s waiting to be unlocked.

He told Sky Sports: “Birmingham City are a major club with a huge catchment area.”

While Farnan has previously worked at the top of the Premier League with United, Pearson has spent time as chairman of Derby County and head of football operations at Hull City.

He is currently the owner of Rugby League side Hull FC.
