Everton target Barcelona defensive duo Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina Everton want to bolster their defence with Barcelona duo Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina. Marco Silva is yet to make a statement in the transfer market since taking over at the Merseyside club, but he and director of football Marcel Brands have been working through several ambitious targets. Digne and Mina top their list and both are understood to be available having been starved of appearances since their high profile moves to the Nou Camp. French international Digne is a 24-year-old left back, who was on the standby list for the World Cup.
He cost 16 million euros when moving to Spain from Paris St Germain in 2016, but after a promising start was unable to make himself a fixture in the side.
Digne has asked to leave this summer, a request he looks likely to be granted, although Juventus have also been linked with the player. Everton would most likely have to pay over £10 million for the full-back. Mina – the Colombian centre-back who caught the eye in the World Cup – is another who has found himself more of a back-up at Barcelona. It is less clear if the Spanish champions are prepared to allow him to leave on a permanent deal or on loan.
Everton are eager to negotiate, Silva and Brands desperate to restructure a squad which needs more youth and quality in all areas.
The Merseysiders have also shown interest in Celtic’s highly-rated full-back Kieran Tierney, but the Scottish champions are eager to keep the youngster.
