Frenchman who has been the Gunners' boss since 1996 tells TV interviewer he WILL sign contract to replace the one about to expire 
Arsene Wenger has CONFIRMED publicly that he is staying at Arsenal. Wenger, in an appearance on beIN Sports, was asked about his future and made it clear that he is preparing to sign a new contract to replace the one that expires this summer.
The interviewer asked: Will you stay or will you go at the end of the season?
The Frenchman, who has been the Gunners' manager since 1996, replied:
"Look, I've said that many times already, I've given my word to this club and I want to continue where I am." Then, after a long pause, he added: "That means to stay." His statement comes just 24 hours after Mirror Sport revealed Wenger, 64, will sign a new contract and was proving his commitment to the long term by planning for the future.
Wenger has already assured the Arsenal board that he is staying on, despite stalling on signing a new contract offer which has been on the table for months.
While he has also stated publicly recently that he would stay - he had added the caveat: "Unless I decide otherwise."
It was believed Wenger wanted to see whether Arsenal won the FA Cup, ending their nine-year wait for a trophy, and also finished in the top four.
But
