Transfer Rumour | Sky Blues hunting Ameobi 
The Hyundai A-League could see another Premier League star in the competition next season with reports Sydney FC are interesting in signing former Newcastle United striker Ameobi. SBS's World Game reports that
Graham Arnold is interesting in bringing the 32-year-old to the Sky Blues and have started initial talks with the attacker. The forward has made more than 300 appearances for the Magpies in 14 years at the club but was released at the end of the 2013/14 Premier League season.
The
recent departure of Italian superstar Alessandro Del Piero has given Sydney licence to chase another big name and Ameobi could well fill the void. The Nigerian international was named in his nation's provisional 30-man World Cup squad and will find out this week whether he will feature at the tournament for the first time.
Sydney has enjoyed a number of attacking signings since
Graham Arnold joined the club with prolific striker Shane Smeltz and young gun Bernie Ibini lured to the harbour city. A strike pairing of Smeltz and Ameobi could potentially be the deadliest the Hyundai A-League has ever seen and no doubt leave Sydney fans salivating.
