Mario Balotelli cries on benchFebruary 8, 2014
Mario Balotelli wept on the bench after being substituted in AC Milan's loss to Napoli on Saturday, but manager Clarence Seedorf said the striker's tears were not "abnormal".
Mario Balotelli broke into tears in AC Milan's loss on Saturday.
Balotelli had a lacklustre day but there was little to explain his emotion.
"We are players and there are times when we express ourselves that way," Seedorf told Sky Sport Italia. "I see nothing wrong or abnormal in that. I experienced it at times too.
"He too needs to grow in general. He played very well against Cagliari, while tonight perhaps didn’t make the most of the space. These are things we can all improve on and I’m happy he has so many areas to improve, as I can help him through that education."
Balotelli only put one shot on target before coming off for Giampaolo Pazzini in the 73rd minute. He was also ruled offside three times.
Seedorf lost his first game since taking over as Milan manager.
"It was a step backwards in terms of the result, but I also saw many positive things," he said.
