Blatter: Cristiano will be at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony
FIFA president Sepp Blatter insists that as far as he is aware,
Real Madrid and Portugalstar Cristiano Ronaldo will be present at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony gala



Currently in Morocco for the FIFA World Club Cup, Sepp Blatter was asked if he could confirm that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo,
would be attending the FIFA Ballon d’Or awards ceremony, on January 13th, by journalists from Spanish sports paper AS. His simple response: “He will be at the gala.”

Cristiano had initially suggested that he wouldn’t attend the awards ceremony, following the “commander” comments by Blatter,
irrespective of whether he was favourite for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award or not.
During the last week however, whilst not making any final decision, Cristiano had said: “There’s still days to go yet. I’m taking with the club and we’ll see if I go.”
Officials at Real Madrid have recently commented that they believe the Portuguese player would attend, but nothing had been made official.

Real Madrid forward and 2013 Ballon d’Or finalist, Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will attend the ceremony next Monday 1
3th January 2014 in Zurich, Switzerland



In his post-match interview following his brace in a 3-0 win over Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday evening,
Cristiano steressed that he has always been there and that he would again attend the gala, win or lose.

“The matter is closed and I don’t want to talk about it anymore, I just want to say that I’m going to the Gala.

“I don’t know if it’s fair or not if I, Ribery or Messi.  I just try to do my job like I always do, to help Real Madrid by scoring goals and put in good performances.
If I win, great and if not, life goes on and I’ll continue to keep doing what I’ve always done.”

It was believed that Cristiano wouldn’t attend the Gala after FIFA president,
Sepp Blatter was videotaped calling him a ‘Commander’ and showed favouritism toward, four-time Ballon d’Or winner, Barcelona’s Leo Messi.
