Everton have further boosted their attacking options with the capture of Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow.
The Republic of Ireland winger joins for an undisclosed fee from the Russian side to add even more attacking flair and creativity to Roberto Martinez's high-flying Toffees.
The former Celtic man, 27, arrives with a host of international and Champions League experience and has penned a four-and-a-half year deal.
Some reports had suggested McGeady would land on Merseyside this summer when his contract with Spartak was set to expire
but Blues boss Martinez worked hard to secure an immediate permanent transfer.

His arrival was revealed to a packed Goodison Park when the player took to the pitch moments before Saturday’s Premier League clash with Norwich City.
In his six years at Celtic, McGeady was named the club's Young Player of the Year three times and won four Scottish Premier League titles,
two Scottish League Cups and two Scottish Cups. He was also voted Scotland's best player by his fellow professionals in 2008,
picking up the SPFA's Players' Player of the Year prize.That form prompted a £9.5m switch to the Russian capital,
where he quickly became a regular for Spartak, helping them to second in the league in 2011/12.

His switch to Goodison Park sees him link-up with international teammates Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Darron Gibson.

Winger delighted to seal Blues transfer.



Aiden McGeady has revealed that Roberto Martinez followed him for over a year before the Spaniard finally landed his man from Spartak Moscow.

The Republic of Ireland wideman has become Martinez’s first transfer window signing after agreeing terms on a four-and-a-half year contract.

And for McGeady, it’s a relief to finally have the deal done.

“I am absolutely delighted,” he told evertontv. “It has sort of been a long time coming. There was talk over the summer that something might happen,
but I am just delighted that it’s done and dusted now.

“I was close to joining the manager a year ago when he was at Wigan. He has obviously come here and proved a lot of people wrong.
He plays football the right way and got a few good results along the way. I just want to play for a big club like this and I am relishing the challenge.”

That challenge is adding to the varied attacking talents at Martinez’s disposal, but McGeady cannot wait to pit his wits against the best in England’s
top flight, even if he will have to bide his time initially. “I have said for a long time now that I wanted to try myself in the Premier League,” he added.

“Now I have a big chance at a great club under a good manager. I couldn’t be happier. It’s a dream move really.

“I just want to concentrate on getting myself fit. I have not played for a long time and I have been off for the last month or so.
Hopefully I can get into the team and start playing and winning games.”
