Daniel Sturridge injury latest
The Football Association have confirmed Daniel Sturridge has returned to Liverpool for treatment on a thigh injury.



The striker will miss England's World Cup qualifier with Moldova at Wembley on Friday evening,
but will link up with the Three Lions again prior to next week's trip to Ukraine.  
An FA statement read: "As Roy Hodgson prepares his England team to face Moldova on Friday evening,
Daniel Sturridge has returned to Liverpool for further treatment.
"The squad departed St. George's Park on Thursday afternoon ahead of the World Cup qualifier at Wembley, but the Liverpool forward will return to his club
with the intention of joining the England squad again at the weekend and travelling to Ukraine."

England striker Daniel Sturridge will take no part in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier in Ukraine because of injury.

A statement on the FA website read: "Club England medical staff have been in constant contact with their counterparts at Liverpool Football Club since he returned there on Thursday.

"His injury has not progressed as had been hoped and it is now clear that Sturridge will not be fit for the match in Kiev on Tuesday evening."

It was also confirmed that England manager Roy Hodgson would not be drafting in any replacements to his squad of 23 who will travel to Kiev on Sunday evening.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit for his club’s trip to Swansea City on Monday

Sturridge was forced to sit out the internationals against Moldova and Ukraine because of a thigh injury which leaves him playing in pain.
The 24-year-old said he was playing at “75 per cent” fitness in his last Premier League game against Manchester United,
and could barely shoot. He scored the winning goal with a glancing header, but was visibly struggling in the latter stages of that fixture.
Sturridge joined the England squad and was assessed by the medical staff in the days following that victory,
when it was established that the recovery time was too short to allow him to face Moldova or travel with Roy Hodgson’s squad to Kiev.
