http://www.touchlinetalk.com/city-star-sidelined/63373/Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set to be out for at least a month after limping off against Newcastle in City’s 4-0 win, according to Sky Sports.
Pellegrini
“I prefer the doctor has the final word on this but I think he will be out for at least one month,” said Pellegrini.
“If we do strengthen (at centre-back) it will not just be because of Vincent Kompany’s injury. We have a very good squad and we see what happens.
“Today or tomorrow we will know exactly how long Vincent will be out for.” He added.
Back-up
With Pellegrini’s first choice out of action, the most likely replacement would be Matija Nastasic.
Even though he injured his ankle only last month, he has returned to training this week and will hopefully be fit for Sunday’s encounter against Cardiff City.
Pellegrini said: “We will see. Nastasic is working normally with the squad and we will see if he starts.”
So even though the season has just begun, Kompany is set to miss early fixtures for both club and country.
The 27-year-old has been the rock at the heart of the defence for City since he joined them from hamburger SV in 2008.
He has made 200 appearances for the Citezens, scoring an unlikely seven goals.[ 此帖被啪啪啪啪啪啪在2013-08-25 01:12重新編輯 ]
