Arsenal favourites to land Brazilian wonderkid Bernard ahead of Tottenham



Gunners expected to make offer for Tottenham target in next 11 days.
Arsenal are favourites to sign Brazil international Bernard, who is also a target of the Gunners’ fierce rivals Tottenham.
According to local source OTempo.br, Arsenal are expected to submit a proposal to the 20-year-old’s club Atletico Mineiro in the next 11 days after receiving a study of his technical performance and another detailing his off-field behaviour.

Atletico, who have both Ronaldinho and former Gunner Gilberto on their books, will reportedly accept an offer of ?25m (£21.5m) for the playmaker.
Bernard was part of the Selecao squad that won the Confederations Cup last month and the player is said to be interested in a move to a club like Arsenal, rather than opting to earn mega-bucks in Russia or Ukraine.
The inside forward is hoping to be an integral part of the Brazil squad at summer’s World Cup in his homeland.
Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the player but the Germans’ interest may have cooled following the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Similarly, Spurs have already landed Bernard’s international teammate Paulinho for £17m this summer and seem unlikely to splash out again on a midfielder when a striker remains a priority.
Primera Liga champions Porto and Shakhtar are also said to be interested in Bernard, however.

Brazilian reports claim Arsenal want Bernard


According to reports in Brazil Arsenal are set to attempt to buy Brazilian winger Bernard from Atletico Mineiro – the side Gilberto currently plays for.
A proposal is expected within the next 11 days after Arsenal received a study of his technical performance and one detailing his off-field behaviour.
The fee being reported would be in the region of ?25m and the club have said they would sell the player if a bid came in for that amount.
The report also claims that the player sees a move to a club like Arsenal as a good one with no interest in moving to somewhere like Russia or the Ukraine despite the money on offer in those countries.
Bernard is hoping to build on a successful Confederations Cup to be an integral part of the Brazilian side for the World Cup next year despite only being 20.
It is said that Tottenham, Borussia Dortmun and Shakhtar Donetsk are also interested but the piece on the Brazilian site, which I am informed by a Brazilian is reliable, that Arsenal are the frontrunners for the player.

Brazil's Bernard on Arsenal radar


Brazil international midfielder Bernard is reportedly being pursued by English Premier league club Arsenal. 'The Gunners' are considering accepting Atletico Mineiro's 25 million euro price tag for the 20-year-old, reports Xinhua. Bernard, a part of Brazil's triumphant Confederations Cup team last month, has also attracted interest from Chelsea, Tottenham, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk. Any deal involving the playmaker is likely to be delayed until after the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between Atletico Mineiro and Paraguay's Olimpia July 24.
