Re Sanchez, Wenger didn't get very far with interest in Martial! Told in no uncertain terms it would be Mkhitaryan or straight cash deal. At this stage, expecting Mkhitaryan to agree to join #afc, paving way for Sanchez to go to #mufc.

The Sanchez/Mkitharyan deal isn't really a straight swap. One player has six months left on his contract, the other has three and a half. As financial quantities, they are very different. Back to original point... player-plus-cash deals are very difficult...

Still think Sanchez to Man United and Mkhitaryan to Arsenal will happen. Raiola posturing pretty blatant and obvious, you’d be naive to believe it especially as he admitted to Sky he was the one that bloody proposed the deal in the first place!

Mino Raiola: Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s transfer to Arsenal is key to Manchester United deal for Alexis Sanchez

Mino Raiola says his client Henrikh Mkhitaryan holds the key to Manchester United’s pursuit of Alexis Sánchez.

United emerged as favourites to sign Sánchez last night after Manchester City pulled out of the race to sign the Chile forward from Arsenal because of fears about the spiraling cost of the whole package, including add-ons and agent fees.

United are willing to meet the £35 million asking price for the 29-year-old, but offered Mkhitaryan, the Armenian, as part of the deal.

Raiola, who represents Mkhitaryan, told The Times this morning: “Manchester United are not going to sign Sánchez unless Mkhi agrees to join Arsenal.”

José Mourinho, the United manager, left Mkhitaryan out of his squad for the 3-0 win over Stoke City last night because he was worried the midfielder’s concentration would be affected by speculation about his future.

Raiola insists Mkhitaryan is yet to decide whether he wants to join Arsenal.

“Mkhi is going to do what is best for him. He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, so it’s his decision.”

Raiola seemed perturbed at the idea that his client has been made to sound like the inferior part of the deal for Sánchez.

“Sánchez is part of the Mkhi deal, not the other way around,” he said.

It is understood that Raiola visited Arsenal’s training ground at the start of the January transfer window, possibly to discuss Mkhitaryan’s situation.

Mkhitaryan has started just two games in the past two months. Mourinho only gave the £30 million signing one Premier League start before December last season over fears about the player’s supposed struggles to adapt to the pace and physicality of the English game.

Chelsea last night entered the bidding to sign Sánchez, who wants to leave Arsenal this month. United are thought to be the Chilean’s preferred destination, however.
