Perez: no Arsenal offer for Higuain

Just as you thought this transfer window couldn’t get any more testing, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says there’s been no offer from Arsenal for striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Argentine has been linked with the Gunners for what seems like infinity plus one now, and reports of agreement between club and player have been doing the rounds for weeks.
There is, however, the small matter of the clubs agreeing and it seems that’s still some way off. In an interview with something called Univision, carried on a the TV channel Quatro, Perez spoke about the Higuain saga, amongst other things.
“We don’t want him to go,” he said. “Furthermore, nobody from Arsenal has come here, or made an offer, not ?27m, nothing. There is no offer.”
Quite what it all means we don’t know. Other than to take his words at face value, which means there’s been no offer. Or maybe he’s spoofing just to drive the price up/make us all weep/for the laugh. We don’t know.

Real Madrid don't want Arsenal target Higuain to leave, insists Perez'

The Blancos president says the club still hope to keep the Argentina international at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, despite interest from Arsene Wenger's side
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has insisted that the Liga giants want Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain to stay with the club.

The Argentina international has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners this summer, as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his forward line ahead of the new season.

However, speaking to Univision, Perez was adamant the Liga runners-up still hoped to retain Higuain, saying: "We don't want him to go."

Perez also claimed that Madrid have yet to receive a bid for the Argentine, but Goal understands that the north Londoners returned with an improved £23.1 million offer for the 25-year-old last Thursday.

Higuain was Madrid's second highest goalscorer in La Liga last season, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo, with 16 goals in 28 appearances for the club.
