Bayer 04 sign Son

Bayer 04 have signedthe South Korea international Heung-Min Son. The 20-year-old Son joinsBayer 04 from Hamburg SV on a contract to 30 June 2018.

The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the details of the move.


“In Heung-Min Son we have signed a player who was a key member of theHSV squad in spite of his youth. Son exactly fits our required profileas a young pro with the ability to develop his career and able to playat full international level. We’re happy he has opted to join Bayer 04Leverkusen as the club where where he can most easily achieve hisambitious targets,” said Bayer 04 managing director Wolfgang Holzhäuserin response to the signing.


And Bayer 04 sporting director Rudi Völler was also very satisfiedwith the successful conclusion of the transfer: “Heung-Min Son isexactly the type of player we were looking for to join our young team.He’s quick, mobile and technically gifted and he’s also a greatfinisher. Son will help us to achieve our targets in the Bundesliga, DFBCup and Champions League.”

Son completes Bayer switch to open door for Schurrle exit

The Bundesliga club have found their replacement for the Chelsea target and are delighted with the addition to their squad

Bayer Leverkusen have signed Heung-Min Son from Hamburg for a fee believed to be in the region of ?10 million.

The transfer has opened the door for Andre Schurrle to join Chelsea with the South Korean acting as his replacement.

Son,20, scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga last season and has signed on afive-year deal, much to the appreciation of the club's board.

"WithHeung-Min Son, we have a committed player who is already among the topperformers despite his youth at HSV," said Bayer Leverkusen directorWolfgang Holzhauser in an official statement.

"Son fits in our requirements as a young, still very viable professional, with international standards.

"We are happy that he decided to join Bayer 04 Leverkusen as the club where he can best realise his own lofty goals.

"Wehave made it clear from the beginning that a transfer to Chelsea forAndre Schurrle is feasible only in conjunction with an adequatealternative.

"This alternative we have now got with Heung-MinSon. Thus, in our view there is nothing in the way of a transfer toEngland for Andre Schurrle."

Leverkusen sporting director RudiVoller is also satisfied after the successful acquisition of the forwardand hopes the signing can help the club progress in the future.

"Heung-Min Son is exactly the type of player we were looking for in our young team," he added.

"Heis fast, agile, technically strong and a great finisher. Son is helpingus to achieve our goals in Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League."
