Transfer news: Internacional deny receiving Napoli offer for Leandro DamiaoInternacional president Giovanni Luigi has denied receiving an offer from Napoli for in-demand striker Leandro Damiao.
The Brazil international has become embroiled in a transfer saga which looks set to drag on throughout the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur were initially reported to be leading the chase for the 23-year-old striker, who topped scored at the 2012 Olympics with six goals.
Their interest appears to have cooled, but Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted to being keen on the Samba star.
Napoli are the latest side said to be closing on a deal, with speculation in Italy suggesting that an agreement is imminent.
Internacional are, however, adamant that no discussions have been held with the Serie A outfit.
"I have not even received a call," Luigi told Globo Esporte.
With no deal seemingly close, there is no guarantee that Damiao will be on the move during the current window, with Internacional coach Dunga revealing on Monday that he hopes to keep the highly-rated frontman in South America.
He told Zero Hora: "No manager wants to lose a player as good as Leandro Damiao. He is a striker who imposes himself, who knows how to score goals. I am not ready to lose him."
