Andre Santos (pictured above with Oprah Winfrey) is wanted by Flamengo, according to reports in the Brazilian media.Arsenal’s ‘false three’ spent the final months of last season on loan at Gremio, but after their elimination from the Copa Liberatdores, the deal was cut short and he was sent back to London.

With the development of Kieran Gibbs and the arrival of Nacho Monreal, the cuddly maverick’s chances at Arsenal are non-existent and a move away is almost certain.
There has been interest from Fenerbache, his former club, but Globo Esporte suggest that Flamengo would be interested and that initial contact has already been made.They, however, have an issue with requires them to move on-loan Corinthians defender Ramon, and it remains to be seen if they can afford to make a deal with Arsenal.

Santos played for Flamengo in 2006, on loan from Figueirense, and was not included in Arsenal’s Asia tour squad which left for Indonesia this afternoon.

Flamengo in talks to sign Arsenal's Andre Santos - report




Flamengo have already started talks to sign Arsenal's left-back Andre Santos, according to reports in Brazilian press.
Globo Esporte reports that negotiations have advanced and that Andre Santos is expected to sign a one-year loan deal with the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
Andre Santos is under contract with Arsenal until 2015, but Globo Esporte reports that Arsenal have already agreed to let him join Flamengo.
The main problem that can prevent a deal from happening is that the transfer has to be completed by Friday, before the Brazilian international window closes on July 20.
Andre Santos played for Gremio during the first semester, but he failed to impress, and returned to Arsenal. Flamengo's manager Mano Menezes has previously worked with him, when they were both at Corinthians.

Flamengo hopeful of signing Arsenal defender Andre Santos




Flamengo have revealed talks are ongoing with Arsenal about a deal to sign Andre Santos on loan.
Santos only recently returned to Emirates Stadium after spending the second half of last season on loan at Gremio.
The 30-year-old is thought to be keen on returning to Brazil and Flamengo are trying to agree a deal with the Gunners for the left-back.
Flamengo coach Mano Menezes is an admirer of Santos having worked with him while he was in charge of Corinthians, but the Brazilians face a race against time to sign the full-back with their transfer window closing on July 20.
Flamengo's director of football Paulo Pelaipe admitted they are waiting to hear back from the Premier League side if they will sanction the deal.
"The negotiation is well under way, but we have the transfer window problem as it's about to close," Pelaipe told UOL. "We are waiting for a signal from Arsenal.
"I don't want to talk about optimism or pessimism, as I don't want to make the fans create expectations.
"But if Arsenal accepted to talk with us and listen to offers, I think we won't have problems, let's wait."

Andre Santos: Looking forward to playing for Flamengo

Flamengo are set to complete the signing of Andre Santos from Arsenal and he is relishing the move, according to reports in Brazil.

The left-back has been back in his homeland for the past few months after joining Gremio on loan in February, following a difficult period at Emirates Stadium when he fell down the pecking order and was criticised for some of his performances.

He is now set to seal a permanent switch to Flamengo, with reports suggesting that he will sign a contract with the club until 2015.

Flamengo had been facing a nervous wait to finalise the move ahead of the Brazilian transfer deadline on July 20, but a deal has now been agreed and is close to being rubberstamped.

"The Arsenal document we were waiting has come," Flamengo's director of football Paulo Pelaipe told UOL.

"Everything is agreed between the player and the club. We are just waiting for the document that authorises the transfer to announce him, it should come by Friday.

"Andre Santos is already at the club's hotel for the medical."

Santos has also expressed his joy at the imminent switch and hopes to play his part in a successful period for Flamengo.

"The feeling couldn't be better, as I am very happy with the achievement of playing for a great club like Flamengo," he is quoted as telling Globo Esporte.

"I feel like a winner. I hope to make history here, be champions and help Flamengo win many games and titles."
