Luiz Felipe Scolari has been confirmed as the new coach of
Brazil.
Formerboss Mano Menezes was sacked last week after failing to meetexpectations, having been knocked out of the 2011 Copa America byParaguay on penalties, before losing to Mexico in the 2012 Olympicsfinal.
And the former Chelsea boss, who coached his country between 2001and 2002, was installed as the early favourite to take over alongsideSantos' Muricy Ramalho.
However, he has now seen off competition to be confirmed as the next
Selecao boss.
During his first reign in charge of his country, Scolari won the 2002 World Cup, beating Germany 3-0 in the final.
Hethen took over Portugal, and under his tutelage the Iberians reachedthe final of Euro 2004, the 2006 World Cup semi-finals, and thequarter-finals of the 2008 European Championship.
Less successfulspells in charge of Chelsea and Uzbekistan outfit Bunyodkor followed,but the 64-year-old returned to his homeland last year, winning the Copado Brasil with Palmeiras.
