NORWICH City can confirm that striker Grant Holt has joined Championship side Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
Clubcaptain Holt, who signed for the Canaries from Shrewsbury Town in July2009, has penned a three-year contract with the Latics.
The32-year-old scored 78 goals in 168 appearances in all competitionsacross his four seasons with City, winning the Club’s Player of theSeason award three times in a row between 2010 and 2012.
Hewas also the Canaries’ top goalscorer in each of those three years,while he shared that accolade with Robert Snodgrass last season afterscoring eight times in his 38 games.
Holtstarted his career in the lower leagues with Workington, Halifax Townand Barrow, before getting his break in the professional game withSheffield Wednesday in March 2003.
A successfulspell at Rochdale earned him a move to Nottingham Forest in January2006, where he played under current City assistant manager ColinCalderwood.
He transferred to Shrewsbury inJune 2008 after a short loan stint at Blackpool, finishing his solitaryseason in Shropshire as their leading goalscorer before his move toCarrow Road.

Barely two weeks after Owen Coyle made his first signing asWigan Athletic Manager, he today welcomes a seventh new arrival to theDW Stadium after a deal was completed to bring striker Grant Holt to theclub from Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.

After completing a medical at the club on Monday, the 32-year-old putpen-to-paper on a three-year deal with Latics and it has been confirmedhe will take up the number nine shirt at the DW Stradium.

Manager Owen Coyle said: “This is a fantastic piece of business for usat a really good price. Grant is a proven goal-scorer at every level andhe will definitely bring something new to the table that we weremissing in the squad.

“There is already a great buzz about the place since the new boys havestarted coming through the door and this is another one that will reallylift the place.

“He’s been a hero to the fans at every club he’s been and I know theNorwich fans are sad to see him go, he’s been one of the icons of theirsuccess in recent years. But now it’s the Wigan fans’ turn to enjoy himand we’re all delighted he’s coming on board.”

Holt made 154 league appearances and scored 68 goals during his time atCarrow Road, and helped the Canaries secure back-to-back promotions inhis first two seasons at the club, claiming the League One title in 2010and finishing second in the Championship the following year. He wasnamed in the PFA Team of the Year for both campaigns and won two of histhree consecutive Player of the Year awards for Norwich.

In his first season in the Premier League, making his debut in a 1-1draw with Latics at the DW Stadium, Holt scored 15 league goals andfinished the campaign as the division's second highest Englishgoalscorer.

The Carlisle-born striker began his career at Workington, and beganplaying in the Football League in 2003 when signed by SheffieldWednesday from Barrow, later playing for Rochdale, Nottingham Forest,Blackpool and Shrewsbury before joining Norwich in 2009.
