Deportivo La Coruna face relegation for the second time in less than twomonths because of a financial dispute with their players.If Depor fail to pay players the wages they are owed from January – whenthe club went into administration – by August 1, they will be sent downto the Segunda B, the third tier of Spanish football.That relegation would cast serious doubt over the future of the club,
believed to be more than ?150 million in debt."I can see no solution to the problem", Javier Tebas, the president of the Liga de Futbol Professional (LFP), told
La Voz de Galicia.
"Once the door closes [on July 31], the rules are very clear - and ifthere are still claims from players for unpaid wages, we can't doanything. The rules have to be applied."
The only hope for Depor is that they are able to reach an agreement with their playing staff before the end of the month.
Tebas stressed that the LFP was responsible for all teams in the Spanishleague, adding: "Let's not forget that there are lots of clubs waitingfor a place in the Segunda, and we have to defend them all."
