Huddersfield's Jordan Rhodes will have a medical at Blackburn Rovers on Thursday after the clubs agreed a deal worth up to £8m.
The Scotland striker has agreed terms on a four-year deal and is expected to complete the move in the next 24 hours.
An initial fee of £4.5m will rise depending on factors such as promotion to the Premier League.
Blackburn had seen a series of bids for the 22-year-old rejected before the breakthrough came on Wednesday.
Blackburn boss Steve Kean has been chasing Rhodes, who scored 40 goals for Huddersfield last season, for three weeks following along-term injury to another recent signing, Leon Best.
Earlier this month, Huddersfield manager Simon Grayson
criticised Kean's decision to go publicwith Rovers' pursuit of the ex-Ipswich youngster.
Rhodes has scored three goals in three games for club and country this season, including his first international strike in
Scotland's 3-1 friendly win against Australia. Third-placed Blackburn are undefeated in their opening three Championship matches

Blackburn Rovers are set to sign Jordan Rhodes after Huddersfield accepted an £8 million bid for the Scotland international striker.
Rhodes is due at Ewood Park for a medical and Rovers hope he will be able to make his debut in Saturday's trip to Leeds.
The £8 million bid was their fourth offer for Rhodes and should conclude a summer-long pursuit of the prolific 22-year-old.
Rhodes scored 40 goals last season to help Huddersfield win promotion from League One and opened his Scotland account in the 3-1 win over Australia earlier this month.
He has two goals in two games for the Terriers this season and 87 in 148 games since joining from Ipswich in 2009.
Blackburn lost last season's top scorer Yakubu to Guangzhou and then saw his replacement, the £3 million Newcastle striker Leon Best, be ruled out for six months with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The Portuguese teenager Edinho led the line in last week's 2-1 win over Leicester as Colin Kazim-Richards, who had scored in their first two league games of the season, was also sidelined.

Rovers complete record-breaking deal for Scottish international striker.
Blackburn Rovers have agreed a club record £8m deal withHuddersfield Town for the signing of much-coveted striker Jordan Rhodes.
The Scotland striker is joining Steve Kean’s promotion-chasing squad on a five-year deal.
Widely regarded as one of the brightest talents outside the top flight, Rhodes becomes our ninth signing of the summer.
The22-year-old was the top scorer in England last season, with 36 leaguegoals, and spearheaded Huddersfield’s promotion charge to theChampionship.
The Rovers boss said: “Jordan is atop class striker and we are absolutely delighted to bring him in. Hisrecord is there for all to see and I believe he can play a major role inour drive for promotion back to the Premier League.”
Rovers’managing director Derek Shaw, instrumental in the record-breakingtransfer, said: “An awful lot of work has gone into this deal and we areall indebted to Mrs Desai and her family for their magnificent support.From the very first day I walked in here, the owners have given superbbacking for everything we are trying to do on and off the field. Jordan, whohas two caps for his country, started his career at Barnsley, beforejoining Ipswich Town in March 2005. He enjoyed successful loan spellswith Oxford United, Rochdale and Brentford, where he became the youngestplayer to score a hat-trick in the club's history, before joiningHuddersfield Town in July 2009.
He scored onhis debut away to Southend before bagging a brace on his home bowagainst Stockport County. He ended the season as the Terriers' topscorer with 23 goals, which included a hat-trick of headers in a gameagainst Exeter!
Jordan top scored again in2010-11, with 22 goals, before really hitting the headlines thanks to asensational season in front of goal last term.
Heregistered a phenomenal 40 goals in all competitions, which includedthree hat-tricks, all four goals in a 4-4 draw with Sheffield Wednesdayand five in a 6-0 whitewash over Wycombe Wanderers. He helpedHuddersfield secure promotion via the play-offs and was rewarded withthe League One Player of the Year award.
Theprolific marksman has continued his fine form into the current campaign,netting three goals in three games for club and country this season,including his first international strike in Scotland's 3-1 friendly winover Australia earlier this month.
Jordan had been called up to the senior squad having netted eight goals in eight games for Scotland’s Under-21s.
The Rovers new boy will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Leeds United.
