Netherlands announce final 23-man squad for Euro 2012
Vurnon Anita, Jeremain Lens, Adam Maher and Siem de Jong are the last to have been deemed surplus to requirements by coach Bert van Marwijk ahead of the summer's showpiece eventMay 26, 2012 1:40:00 PM

Netherlands have named the 23-man squad that will travel to Poland and Ukraine for this summer's European Championship.
Coach Bert van Marwijk had initially selected a provisional group of 36 players, before trimming nine men on the grounds of the form they had showed according to the former Feyenoord boss last Tuesday.
However, he has now announced his final squad to represent the Oranje at Euro 2012, which includes the omissions of Ajax duo Vurnon Anita and Siem de Jong, AZ starlet Adam Maher and PSV attacker Jeremain Lens.
Only Luciano Narsingh and Jetro Willems have had no previous international experience in the Netherlands set-up, with Van Marwijk opting to keep the fulcrum of the side intact.
Netherlands have been drawn in the Euro 2012 Group B, together with Germany, Denmark and Portugal, before facing friendly opposition in the form of Bulgaria, Slovakia and Northern Ireland.

Low names Germany Euro 2012 squad: Ter Stegen, Draxler, Cacau & Sven Bender dropped
The coach has confirmed his official 23-man squad to feature in next month's tournament in Poland and Ukraine, having made some surprises with his cutsMay 28, 2012 4:50:00 PM

Joachim Low has announced his final Germany squad for Euro 2012. The trainer has made four cuts, trimming his initial 27-man squad to 23 ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Julian Draxler, who made debuts in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Switzerland, have been cut, along with midfielder Sven Bender and striker Cacau.
The cuts mean that Manuel Neuer, Tim Wiese and Ron-Robert Zieler will be Low's goalkeepers, while only one Bender twin (Lars) will be available for selection. Cacau's omission leaves the trainer with only Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez as established strikers, with Marco Reus a possible tertiary option.
Germany kick-off their Euro 2012 campaign on Saturday, June 9, against Portugal.

Van Persie, Kuyt and Krul among those to make the gradeBy Gerrit van Leeuwen. Last Updated: May 7, 2012 12:31pm
Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has named a 36-man preliminary squad for Euro 2012, with the Premier League well represented within his ranks. The 2010 World Cup finalists are among the favourites to go all the way in Ukraine and Poland this summer, and have a wealth of world-class talent at their disposal.
Among those hoping to make the grade when Van Marwijk whittles his selection down to 23 players is Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie, who will be expected to replicate his impressive domestic form on the international stage.
Newcastle's Tim Krul and Swansea's Michel Vorm are battling it out for goalkeeping berths, while John Heitinga of Everton is among the defensive hopefuls.
Rafael van der Vaart of Tottenham will be looking to bring creativity in midfield, with Manchester City's Nigel de Jong adding much-needed bite.
Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt is also hoping to be involved, allowing him to put a frustrating season at Anfield behind him.
OverlookedAmong those to have been overlooked by Van Marwijk is Everton's on-loan midfielder Royston Drenthe.
Juventus winger Eljero Elia also misses out and there is no place in the 36-man party for Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who has netted 22 times for Sporting Lisbon this season.
"We have, as a technical staff, worked closely to achieve as balanced a group as possible," said Van Marwijk, who will trim his squad to 27 after a two-day training camp.
"You have to take into account the Dutch play-offs, foreign leagues and cup finals, and the final of the Champions League.
"There are players coming back from injury and there is a great opportunity for those we have been following closely to impress at the training session."

Goalkeepers: Erwin Mulder (Feyenoord), Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Maarten Stekelenburg (Roma), Michel Vorm (Swansea City), Tim Krul (Newcastle United).
