Wales manager Gary Speed confirmed dead                                                               Wales football manager Gary Speed died.
His death was confirmed in a statement by the Football Association of Wales.
The statement said: "We extend our sympathies and condolences to the family. We ask that everyone respects the family's privacy at this very sad time."
Speed took over the Wales job in February, and earlier this month, said the side's rapid improvement had exceeded all expectations.

THE LOSS OF A TRUE FRIEND

Simon Grayson has expressed his shock at the loss of "a true friend" after learning of the passing of our former player Gary Speed.
Simon signed schoolboy forms with Leeds United on the same day as Gary and the pairing's friendship dates back over 25 years.
"It is an unbelievably sad day," said Simon, who was stunned to see the reports on Sunday morning.
"Speedo was a true friend and a very, very popular man.
"Our sympathies are with Louise, his children, his dad, and all his family.
"We signed on the same day and played in the youth and reserve teams together.
"We also did all our coaching badges together. He was a good friend and this is a very sad day.
"Gary was such a popular person and this is a hard time for everybody."

Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: “It is with the very deepest of regret that we have today learned of the passing of Gary.

“Gary was a popular player during his time here at Goodison Park and on behalf of the Board of Directors, management, players, staff and fans of Everton I would like to extend our sympathies to his family at this extremely difficult time.”

Captain Pays Tribute To Speed

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has paid tribute to Gary Speed after it was announced on Sunday that the Wales national team manager had passed away.

Davies said: "It's very much a shock and I'm finding it hard to come to terms with it all.

"I had Ivan Campo and Stelios ring me earlier today - they were upset and wanted to offer their condolences to Gary's family. It's like a bad dream.

"I was a room-mate with Gary when he was at the club. He is a legend in football and what he achieved with Bolton was fantastic.

"He was very good in the dressing room and he got along with everyone. He was the ultimate professional, a born winner who always gave his all.

"While he was with Bolton he started taking his coaching badges and being the type of person he was, we knew that he would succeed in that part of the game, and he was starting to forge out a successful career as a manager.

"He was such a popular player, not just at the clubs he represented but the whole football world in general. Everyone has been saying what a great guy he was and that he always had time for people.

"It's a sad day for football."

rip [表情]

The next of kin have been informed and have confirmed the identity of the man as Gary Speed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. The family have requested that they are left in peace to grieve at this difficult time. A family tribute will be released at a later date but not today."
