Bolton reject Wigan bid for Al-Habsi is as Trotters want an increased offer

Bolton have rejected Wigan’s latest £3m bid for keeper Ali Al-Habsi, 29. They want £5m.

Meanwhile, Stoke are keen on Caen striker Youssef El-Arabi.

Tony Pulis is looking to bolster his squad after releasing Eidur Gudjohnsen, Abdoulaye Faye and Ibrahima Sonko.

POULSON WANTS ANFIELD STAY

Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen insists that he wants to stay at the club and be part of the rebuilding process.

The Danish international is reported to be one of several players heading towards the exit door this summer, having only figured a handful of times under new boss Kenny Dalglish.

Poulsen joined the Reds at the start of last season under former boss Roy Hodgson for £5million, but has become a much-maligned figure during his spell at Anfield and accused of not being up to the pace of the Premier League.

Despite struggling over the past year however, Poulsen still feels he can contribute in the centre of midfield and have a part to play in their revival, despite links with a move to Stoke.

"It was a really long season. I came here in August and a lot of things happened during the season - we have got new owners and the manager has changed," he told the club's official website.

"The whole time the dressing room was really good during a season of a lot of changes. The atmosphere is always better when you're winning games, but that is normal in football.

"In the second half of the season we found ourselves as a team and I am looking forward to seeing how Liverpool play next season because I think a lot of things have gone on this year, so if we can have more of a stable season then it will be interesting to see which position we can finish in.

"I am sure Kenny is the right man to lead Liverpool to success in the future because in the short time he has been here, we have only gone one way - and I hope that will continue in the future.

"Of course, I would also like to play a little bit more - and that is my hope for the future.

"To come to Liverpool and to play at Anfield has been really good for me, but I hope I still have bigger moments to come in the future that I will be able to talk about at the end of next season.

"I hope I can get closer to the starting XI. I have been training hard at Melwood to try and get back into the team and that is my aim for the future."

Skysports.com understands that Norwich City have won the race to sign Leeds United midfielder Bradley Johnson.

Johnson is out of contract at Elland Road and will join with the newly-promoted club on a free transfer this week.

The 24-year-old made 45 Championship appearances for The Whites last season as their play-off push fell just short.

Johnson, who was also interesting Premier League rivals West Brom, is expected a sign a three-year contract for manager Paul Lambert's side.

The former Northampton and Brighton man will be another cog in the Norwich evolution following the capture of James Vaughan and with Millwall's Steve Morison due to join.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric has no plans to leave the club this summer.

The Croatian has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer after a superb season for Harry Redknapp's side.

But despite missing out on the Champions League, Modric doesn't have eyes on leave Spurs.

"I am happy and enjoying it here. The fans are amazing, the club is amazing, My fellow Croatians are here — I am not missing anything," he said.

"I think this club can achieve a lot of great things, I think we can fight for trophies, the EPL or cups. Like I said, I am happy here and not thinking about anything else."

It will be hard because being in the Champions League for the first time, we did a great job and played some great games against big teams," he added.

"We enjoyed it, but we didn’t manage to qualify and it is going to be hard watching on television next season. We need to prepare and try again for the fourth spot, maybe third or second — I don’t know."

talkSPORT understands Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole will not be joining Tottenham this summer.


Cole, 29, has fallen out of favour on Merseyside since the arrival of Kenny Dalglish in January but will not be making to move to White Hart Lane.

It's understood that Spurs will instead be looking to trim the squad after failing to reach the Champions League this season.

The England winger has endured a torrid time at Anfield since his arrival from Chelsea on a free transfer last summer and has only made nine starts for the Reds this season.

A source close to Tottenham, who were one of many clubs to pursue Cole last year, has stated that he is not amongst their list of summer targets though
