The UEFA Emergency Panel has decided to replace Fenerbahçe SK with Trabzonspor AŞ after the Turkish FA withdrew Fenerbahçe from the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League.

The UEFA Emergency Panel, composed of the UEFA President and four members of the UEFA Executive Committee, met today following the decision of the Turkish Football Federation to withdraw Fenerbahçe SK from the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League due to the fact that the club has been involved in match-fixing.

The UEFA Emergency Panel decided to replace Fenerbahçe SK with Trabzonspor AŞ, runners-up in the 2010/11 Turkish league, in tomorrow's draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage.

The UEFA Emergency Panel also decided that Trabzonspor AŞ would be replaced in the UEFA Europa League by its opponent in the play-off, Athletic Club. The UEFA Europa League play-off second-leg match between Trabzonspor AŞ and Athletic Club, scheduled for Thursday 25 August, is cancelled.

Commenting on the UEFA Emergency Panel decision, UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino said: "The panel considered that the Turkish Football Federation took the right decision to protect the game, fully in line with our zero-tolerance policy against match-fixing.

"The Turkish Football Federation has shown with this decision that it takes its full responsibility in the fight against corruption."

土耳其足協在週三已經證實了歐足總對費倫巴治球會下達的處罰決定。而歐足總在緊急會議後決定，將由土耳其聯賽亞軍特拉布宗取代。特拉布宗原本還要在歐霸盃與西班牙畢爾包爭奪小組參賽資格，由於該隊已經升格參加歐聯，因此畢爾包也幸運地獲批直接晉級下一輪的歐霸盃比賽。

    歐足總秘書長恩凡天奴表示：「我們認為土耳其足協做出了正確的決定，以保護比賽，完全符合我們打擊假球的零容忍政策。土耳其足總也已經表態，將在反腐敗鬥爭起應有的責任。

    上個月，土耳其足協因為大規模捲入假球醜聞而發生了大地震，有30人被起訴並被判入獄候審。費倫巴治主席是被關押的犯罪嫌疑人的名單中級別最高的，還包括副主席和另一巨頭比錫達斯的領隊。嫌疑人被指控操縱19場比賽，上季費倫巴治奪取了土耳其聯賽的冠軍，得失球差超過特拉布宗。

Turkish champions Fenerbahce are to appeal against their removal from the UEFA Champions League for alleged match-fixing.

The Turkish Football Association took the decision to remove the Istanbul-based club from Thursday's Champions League draw, to be replaced by runners-up Trabzonspor, following allegations that up to 19 games were fixed last season.

More than 30 people, including Fenerbahce's president Aziz Yildirim, have already been charged in the probe so far, with the club facing the prospect of being stripped of their title or even relegated.

However, the club's lawyer, Haluk Burcuoglu, confirmed the club had lodged an appeal with Turkish football's arbitration committee.

The start of the Turkish season has been pushed back until September as the authorities try to deal with the crisis.

Fenerbahce have officially announced on the club's website that they have launched an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) decision to throw the club out of this season's Champions League.

The Turkish champions are currently embroiled in a match-fixing scandal that has seen more than 30 players and officials of the club arrested pending investigation.

"The club have sent a petition to the CAS, dated September 2, 2011, where the arbitration process was formally initiated informing the relevant parties," the statement reads.

"The notification letter states that UEFA and the TFF have until midnight on September 6, 2011 to respond to the defendant's appeal. The decision will come next week but is independent of the main CAS case."

Fenerbahce are claiming ?45 million worth of damages from the TFF for financial loss due to their expulsion from Europe's elite competition, as rivals Trabzonspor have been awarded their spot in the Champions League. The Istanbul giants are also requesting to be re-admitted into the competition.

Uefa and the TFF have until midnight of September 6 to respond to the appeal with the decision coming next week.
