Skysports.com understands that Wigan Athletic are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur's out-of-favour midfielder Giovani dos Santos.

The Latics are searching the market for a winger to reinforce their squad for the 2011/12 campaign and have earmarked the Mexico international as a potential recruit.

Wigan were initially interested in Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips and Vladimir Weiss, but while Queens Park Rangers are favourites to sign the former, the latter has already joined Espanyol on a season-long loan.

Manager Roberto Martinez has now turned his attention to Dos Santos, who is way down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old moved to Spurs from Spanish and European champions Barcelona in 2008 but has failed to find his feet in London, going out on loan to Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander since 2009.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp does not appear to have Dos Santos in his plans for this season, which Wigan are looking to capitalise upon.

Aston Villa lining up Hamburg right-back Demel to replace Young

Aston Villa are considering a move for Hamburg full-back Guy Demel should they fail to conclude a £4million deal with Tottenham over Alan Hutton.

Manager Alex McLeish wants to strengthen his defence after selling Luke Young to QPR and has been keen on Hutton for some time.

Ivory Coast international Demel, 30, is available on a free transfer. He spent the 2000-01 season at Arsenal.

Leicester have made a £4million bid for Fulham striker Andy Johnson.

Manager Sven Goran Eriksson is looking to bring in a new striker having struggled to bring in Nicky Maynard from Bristol City.

Official: Jorge Martinez leaves Juventus for Cesena on one-year loan deal

The Uruguay international has left the Turin side for a temporary stay at the Serie A minnows, where he will try to re-launch his career

Juventus have confirmed on their official website that Jorge Martinez has left the club for Cesena. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a one-year loan deal with the Serie A outfit.

Cesena were in the market for attacking reinforcements because of the departure of Emanuele Giaccherini, who moved in the opposite direction last week, and they have now found their man in Martinez.

The creative midfielder joined Juventus from Catania in the summer of 2010, but failed to secure regular first team action in his first season in Turin.

New head coach Antonio Conte recently made it clear that the former Catania star wouldn't get much playing time in the 2011-12 campaign either, thus prompting Martinez to move on in an attempt to re-launch his career elsewhere.

Former Juventus striker David Trezeguet to complete Bani Yas deal in next 24 hours - reports

UAE club Bani Yas are expected to officially confirm the signing of former France and Juventus forward David Trezeguet on Tuesday, according to reports.

The 33-year-old 1998 Fifa World Cup winner arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday with his agent Antonio Caliendo and completed a medical with Bani Yas on Monday.

According to Gulf News and The National, Trezeguet will be unveiled as a Bani Yas player in the next 24 hours on a one-year deal reportedly worth ?1.7 million.

Bani Yas's media manager told Gulf News: "Everything is looking good, the player is in Abu Dhabi, he's taking his medical and is expected to sign Monday night or Tuesday — but I obviously cant confirm if it will go ahead as planned."

Trezeguet, who famously scored the extra-time golden goal in France's 2000 European Championship final success against Italy, is available on a free transfer after being released by Spanish club Hercules at the end of last season.

Bani Yas finished as runners-up in the UAE Pro-League last season and have qualified for the 2012 Asian Champions League.

Trezeguet would follow Grafite, Luis Jimenez and Lucas Neill as high-profile foreigners to head to the UAE Pro-League during the off-season.

Sevilla keen to sign £8m-rated Dempsey as Fulham midfielder eyes big move

Sevilla have made an enquiry about Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey.

Dempsey, 28, who scored a consolation in Fulham's defeat at Newcastle on Sunday, is thought to be keen to compete at a higher level.

Fulham are speculated to value Dempsey at £8million and Jol is unlikely to part with his creative midfielder for anything less than that fee.

Daniele De Rossi could join Manchester City admits AS Roma owner
Roma's new owner has admitted that Daniele De Rossi could join Manchester City this week.

City boss Roberto Mancini was last week quoted as saying that he believed 28-year-old De Rossi, who has also been linked with rivals Manchester United, would be "absolutely perfect" in his midfield.

That has led to reports suggesting the Italian is looking to make a £25million bid for the midfielder before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

And while Roma owner Thomas DiBenedetto is hopeful of keeping the Italy international at the club, he has admitted that it will be the player himself who makes the final decision.

"Daniele is a Roman and a Romanista 100 per cent, a great player, an international and a great figurehead for us,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

"Therefore, we hope he can play for Roma to the end of his career, but ultimately it’s his decision.

"If he had different ambitions, then we’d have to take that into account.".

The Italy international is out of contract with Roma next summer.

Juventus have agreed terms with Hamburg over the transfer of Netherlands international Eljero Elia, De Telegraaf reports.

The Serie A side are desperate to land a left-winger before the summer transfer window slams shut on Wednesday and they have earmarked Elia as the ideal addition.

Juve have reportedly reached an agreement with HSV about an initial transfer fee of ?9 million plus an undisclosed figure in variables. However, they have yet to agree personal terms with Elia.

The 24-year-old is keen to leave Hamburg, but would prefer a move to the Premier League rather than Serie A.

"I've been told that there is a lot of racism in Italian stadiums and most teams play very defensive. These kinds of things play a role in my decision," Elia said to AD/Sportwereld.

"My style of play would be perfect for England. You often see defenders struggle against attackers with a good individual action. That's why I prefer a move to the Premier League."

However, despite Elia's preference for England, a transfer to Juventus appears to be a more realistic option. The former Twente ace has been linked with clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool, but neither of the two has tabled an official offer.

The winger, who is currently away on international duty with Netherlands, has given his representatives authorisation to sign a contract on his behalf and agent Klaus Vink is ready to open talks with Juventus.

"We will try and reach an agreement, but won't accept just any offer," said Vink.

Atletico Madrid have signed Pizzi from Sporting Braga on loan for until the end of the year with the option to recruit him on a permanent contract thereafter.

The Spanish club made the announcement on their official website on Monday in which they outlined that the forward will be on loan at the Vicente Calderon until December 31, 2011.

Reports in Portugal suggest that Atletico would have to pay Braga a transfer fee of ?15 million if they would then want to make the deal permanent.

Pizzi, whose full name is Luis Miguel Afonso Fernandes, passed his medical examination with the Primera Division outfit on Monday morning and subsequently signed the required documents.

The 21-year-old is a Portugal Under-21 international and is one of a number of signings Atletico have made during the summer transfer window so far, including striker Radamel Falcao from Porto and Arda Turan from Galatasaray.

Espanyol have announced that they have completed the signing of Manchester City midfielder Vladimir Weiss on a season-long loan deal.

The Slovakia international passed a medical with the Spaniards on Monday morning, with the two clubs reaching an agreement over the transfer in the afternoon.

Weiss, a product of City's youth ranks, has failed to make his mark at the Premier League club and spent the last year-and-a-half on loan at Bolton and Rangers.

The 21-year-old, who has become Espanyol's fifth signing of the summer, has been called up for Slovakia's upcoming Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Republic of Ireland and Armenia.
