The gifted 22-year-old, who is in Chile's squad preparing for next month's Copa America in Argentina, will travel in the coming days to Spain to seal his move to the European champions.
"Udinese agree on the sale of Sanchez to Barcelona for $54 million (£33m)," the daily La Tercera said, adding that the player's Argentine agent Fernando Felicevich had "concluded a pre-accord for a four-year contract for $4.4 million (£2.7m)."
Sanchez, known as 'Kid Marvel', scored 12 goals this season and helped Udinese finish fourth in Serie A to reach a Champions League qualifying berth.
El Mercurio said Sanchez had been granted permission by Chile coach Claudio Borghi to miss next Thursday's friendly against Paraguay "to have the medical tests (at Barcelona)".
Sanchez, set to turn out for Chile in a friendly against Estonia in Santiago later on Sunday, was signed by Udinese in 2006 for £1.7 million. He was loaned to Argentina's River Plate in 2007.
Meanwhile, Giuseppe Rossi's agent Federico Pastorello has said he does not expect Barcelona to follow up their interest in the Villarreal forward.
"There have been no contacts in the last ten days. At this point it looks unlikely Rossi will join Barca," Pastorello told COMRadio.
"They want Alexis Sanchez and, if they sign him for 30 million euros, there won't be money left for Rossi. Barcelona are free to sign who they want, no problem. This is football, and football doesn't end at Barca."

Official: Christian Pander joins Hannover on a one-year deal

The injury-plagued left-back has signed a contract with last season's surprise Bundesliga club, as he ends his 10-year spell in Gelsenkirchen in search of a new start

Left-back Christian Pander has exited Schalke and joined Hannover on a free transfer, signing a one-year contract.

The 27-year-old has spent 10 years in Gelsenkirchen but was not offered a contract extension, following an injury-plagued spell in recent seasons.

Pander, who has two caps for the German national side, will join Hannover on July 1 and will be familiar with the club's current coach, Mirko Slomka, who was at Schalke between 2006 and 2008.

Hannover's sporting director Jorg Schmadtke told of the club's delight of signing the left-back, who will bring European experience to the club's maiden season in the Europa League.

"Christian can help us in the coming years with his experience. He has demonstrated his class many times and our coach Mirko Slomka knows him already from his time at Schalke. He is able to integrate perfectly into our system," Schmadtke told the club's official website.

Pander scored a memorable goal from 25-yards on his international debut against England in August 2007, in a 2-1 defeat.

McLeish closes in on cut-price DJ deal as Villa also eye Brown and Adam

Aston Villa are emerging as the favourites to land Blackpool's DJ Campbell for a cut-price £1.25million.

Alex McLeish has been handed a transfer kitty of £35m and is ready to compete with Sunderland for Manchester United defender Wes Brown as well as fighting Liverpool for Blackpool playmaker Charlie Adam.

But the new Villa boss has identified a few cheaper targets, including striker Campbell, 29, who has a clause letting him move for the bargain fee.

McLeish may go for Rangers keeper Allan McGregor or Manchester City's Shay Given instead of returning to Birmingham for Ben Foster.

Birmingham have spoken to Chris Hughton and Gianfranco Zola about filling McLeish's old job.

United wait on Varane
Defender set to make decision with Real and PSG also bidding

Manchester United will find out within the next 48 hours if their bid for Lens starlet Raphael Varane has been successful.

United have been tracking the Lens stopper for a number of months and were the first side to make a move for him this summer.

They lodged a bid of around ?10million for the 18-year-old central defender, who admitted he was considering his options carefully.

Varane intimated he would like to continue playing first-team football next season, so United were set to allow him to move back to France on loan.

Real Madrid, who have also lodged a bid, were also happy for him to return as part of the deal but he also looks set to have the option to move within his homeland as Paris Saint Germain have also lodged an offer.

And it is PSG who have emerged as favourites to land his signature, despite the attention of the two European giants.

Decision

Lens president Gervais Martel confirmed that interested clubs will soon find out Varane's future.

"Given the clubs involved, it would be very hard to stop him [from moving," Martel told La Voix du Nord.

"I hope this will be finalised in the next 48 hours - I have just spent four hours on the phone, and there are many things to settle."

Everton hold 'encouraging' talks with midfield star Fellaini over new deal

Everton have held 'encouraging' talks with Marouane Fellaini over extending the midfielder's stay at Goodison Park.

Fellaini, 23, has two years left on his deal but is reportedly considering his future.

Everton's board are relaxed, however, after talks with his advisors, and are confident he will sign a long-term deal.

Fulham close on £2m keeper Kameni to put Schwarzer future in doubt

Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni is hoping to finalise a £2million move to Fulham.

The Cameroon keeper was due in London for talks on Sunday night and a deal would bring former Arsenal target Mark Schwarzer's future back into question.

Fulham have also made a bid for Aberdeen 18-year-old Fraser Fyvie. The midfielder has battled back to fitness after a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Pompey and Wolves set to battle it out over Liverpool flop Konchesky

Liverpool left back Paul Konchesky wants to join Portsmouth on a season-long loan.

The main competition for the 30-year-old may come from Wolves, who are also interested in Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, 21 - as are Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool target Sylvain Marveaux, 25, has joined Newcastle on a free from Rennes.

Porto president Pinta da Costa has admitted he is helpless to prevent Andre Villas-Boas leaving as reports claim Chelsea have made a move for him.

Over the weekend Inter Milan made an approach for the brilliant young tactician, who led Porto to three trophies last season, including the domestic double and the Europa League.

Inter, though, baulked at the idea of paying his ?15million (£13.2m) release clause, but that would not be an issue for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich if he did move for him.

Reports from Portugal claim that is the case and that Chelsea have turned their attention to the 33-year-old, who has already served as a coach at Stamford Bridge.

Villas-Boas is a protege of former Blues chief Jose Mourinho, and worked with him at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan before embarking on his managerial career in 2009.

After one year with Academica, he was appointed Porto chief in 2010 and he has blossomed.

Villas-Boas insisted after the Europa League final win that he was committed to Porto but that resolve now looks as if it could be tested.

And Da Costa admits he cannot stand in his way: "Villas Boas has a contract and a clause of ?15million.

"If someone deposits ?15million into our account and he wants to go, we can not do anything because it is something that is contractually specified."

Chelsea have been locked in talks with Turkey coach Guus Hiddink about returning to the club.

The Blues have been talking with Hiddink about taking either the coach's job or the sporting director role, and should he take on the latter then there would also be, in theory, room for Villas-Boas to also come on board.
