Andy Robertson is back on Liverpool’s radar as Jurgen Klopp prepares to sign a left-back this summer.

The £8million-rated Hull City defender is one of a number of options being considered as the Reds wait on Alberto Moreno.

Liverpool will buy a replacement for Moreno if as expected the Spaniard leaves Anfield over the coming weeks.

The Reds slapped a £15million price tag on the 24-year-old having recently rejected an £11million offer from Napoli.

However, the ECHO understands that Moreno has yet to indicate that he accepts that his future lies away from Anfield.

The former Sevilla full-back is settled on Merseyside and will consider his options when he returns for pre-season training next week.

As a result Liverpool are unlikely to press on with buying a left-back to compete with vice-captain James Milner for a starting role until Moreno’s fate is sealed.

Liverpool have scouted Robertson extensively over the past two seasons.

They were linked with the Scotland international a year ago but Klopp opted not to sign a left-back after failing in a bid to buy Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

Robertson has remained under consideration since but Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon was the preferred option this summer. Liverpool withdrew their interest earlier this month after being informed that the teenager intended to remain in the capital and he has since signed a first professional deal with the Cottagers.

The Reds enquired about Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy, but were told he’s likely to join Manchester City.

Liverpool have also been linked with Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney but the ECHO understands they don’t feature on the club’s shortlist.

Robertson is destined to leave Hull following their relegation from the top-flight last season.

The Glasgow-born 23-year-old has made 115 appearances for the Tigers since his £3million move from Dundee United in 2014.

Released by Celtic as a teenager, the attacking full-back launched his career at Queen’s Park before being snapped up by Dundee United. Three years ago he was crowned the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.

Liverpool are close to signing Scotland left-back Andy Robertson from Hull City.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield for some weeks and it is believed that negotiations between the two clubs are all but completed, allowing Robertson to become Liverpool’s third signing of the summer, following the arrival of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and Mohamed Salah from Roma.

Robertson joined Hull from Dundee United for £2.85m July in 2014 and despite the club’s struggles during that period, including most recently relegation from the Premier League, the player has regularly impressed.

He made his debut for Scotland in a friendly against Poland in March 2014 and has gone on to earn a further 14 caps.

The fee for Robertson, whose contract with Hull expires next June, is believed to be in the region of £8m and he maintains a realistic chance of being an instant first-team player at Anfield given Jürgen Klopp’s current left-back options are James Milner, a converted midfielder, and Alberto Moreno, who has fallen out of favour with the German.

Liverpool are closing in on an £8million deal for Hull's Andy Robertson.
The 23-year-old left back would be their third deal of the summer following the arrivals of Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.
Robertson will provide James Milner with competition in the full-back position, with the club set to return to European competition this season.
Alberto Moreno is expected to leave Anfield, although the Reds rejected an £11million bid from Napoli for the Spaniard last month.
Robertson has been tracked by Liverpool over the past two seasons, but Hull's relegation to the Championship means he is now likely to depart the KC Stadium at a relatively cheap price.

Klopp is wary of the fact that his side will be playing in four competitions this season, and the German would like a natural left-back to enable him to play Milner further forward at times in midfield.
Newcastle United, Burnley, Watford and West Ham have all previously been linked with Robertson this summer but Liverpool are favourites to land the former Dundee United defender.
Meanwhile, Lucas Leiva missed Liverpool's 1-1 friendly draw against Wigan on Friday night with the Brazilian midfielder finalising a £5million move to Lazio.

Reds deal for left-back appears to be edging nearer

Andy Robertson's move to Liverpool appeared to edge a step nearer when the defender reportedly left Hull City's training camp in Portugal.

The Reds have been in talks with the Championship side over the £8million transfer of the Scotland international left-back.


And it was claimed on Monday evening that Robertson, along with Aston Villa target Ahmed Elmohamady, has departed Hull's warm-weather training camp to holds talks with Anfield officials.

Robertson has emerged as a priority for Jurgen Klopp as he looks to address the Reds' problem left-back position.

The 23-year-old has made 115 appearances for Hull following a £3m switch from Dundee United in 2014.

Robertson would provide competition for James Milner at left-back and his arrival would most likely trigger the departure of Alberto Moreno, who is being courted by several European clubs.

Liverpool are in talks with Hull City over the signing of defender Andrew Robertson, according to Sky sources.

The Scotland international left-back has flown home from the club's pre-season tour in Portugal and another source claims a fee that could rise to £10m has been agreed.

Robertson made 39 appearances in all competitions last season as Hull were relegated from the Premier League.

The 23-year-old started his career at Queen's Park before moving to Dundee United. He joined Hull in July 2014, making his debut in a 1-0 win over QPR.

Liverpool have already signed Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke this summer.
