- Talks over Walker are not progressing and City are without a senior right back
- Pep Guardiola wants Walker in for US tour, but could move on to other targets
- Dani Alves has been unveiled by PSG when City thought he was coming to them
Kyle Walker will arrive back at Tottenham in the coming days with his future still unresolved and Daniel Levy holding out for £50million.The sense of urgency placed on Manchester City to land top target Walker heightened on Wednesday after Paris Saint-Germain announced the signing of Dani Alves.
Alves accepted a £230,000-a-week deal with PSG having previously agreed to sign for his former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola.
City will need to break an impasse with Spurs quickly if Guardiola is to have Walker for their pre-season tour of America. The City squad fly out to the States on Monday, with Spurs heading to Orlando two days later. They face each other in Nashville on July 29.City were eyeing a deal at around £40m, while Levy plans to recoup significantly more for a right back with 27 England caps.
Walker's interest in pursuing a move to the Etihad Stadium dates back to earlier this year and the 27-year-old hopes to secure a transfer away sooner rather than later.
Negotiations between the two clubs have not moved forward - Spurs are known to sell players towards the end of the summer - and Levy is highly unlikely to buckle.
A continued stand-off in valuations should see Guardiola turn his attentions to other targets and there remains the possibility rookie defender Pablo Maffeo may be thrust into the limelight.
Meanwhile, Alves apologised to City for his U-turn when unveiled as a PSG player.
'If Pep Guardiola and Manchester City feel hurt, I apologise to them,' the Brazilian said. 'However, I have come here to become a champion.'
