Meireles: 'Kuyt influenced my decision - Fenerbahce as big as Chelsea & Liverpool'

Raul Meireles was encouraged by friend and former teammate Dirk Kuyt to join Fenerbahce
Fenerbahçe have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles for ?10 million on a four-year contract.
The Portuguese international midfielder spoke to FB TV regarding the move, Meireles said, "Fenerbahçe are a big club, everybody knows what kind of history the club has.
"I'm a team player, I love to win but what's more important is that the team wins. I can promise the fans that I will always give it my all and be a professional.
"For me it's all about work, work, work. My goal is to win trophies here, I will do everything I can to try and make it happen.
"I can't wait to get started, Fenerbahçe is as big a club as Chelsea, Liverpool and Porto.
"I had a great season playing at Liverpool with Kuyt, he told me about Fenerbahçe and encouraged me to make the move."
The 29-year-old midfielder also talked about his famed tattoos and which shirt number he will be wearing.
Meireles said, "I will be wearing the number 14 shirt, the reason being my daughters birthday is on the 14th.
"Tattoos are my passion, I have tattoos of my mother, father, wife, daughter and things of special significance to me.
"I have friends playing in Turkey, Kuyt has told be on several occasions that Istanbul is a beautiful city, I'm very excited about the prospect of playing here."
Meireles joined Chelsea from Liverpool for ?13.5 million in 2011. Meireles played 28 games last season and has three years left on his contract.
