Sporting Gijon have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Roma over the transfer of defender Jose Angel to the Italian club.The Spanish outfit made the announcement on their official website on Tuesday afternoon and stated that the 21-year-old has left for Rome in order to meet with his new team. However, neither the length of the contract nor the transfer fee involved in the deal has been revealed yet.
Angel was part of the Spain side that won the European Under-21 Championships last month and had been expected to join Spanish and European champions Barcelona following the triumph.
However, his agent Alfredo Martinez explained that the youngster wants to join Roma as he is eager to “work with Luis and Enrique and Ivan De La Pena” as he “likes the project” at Roma.
