Velez Sarsfield have confirmed on their official website that they have reached an agreement with Inter over the transfer of midfielder Ricky Alvarez for a fee of US$17 million (?11.8m).Inter have acquired 90 per cent of the player's economic rights and are obliged to purchase the remaining 10 per cent for a fee of ?1m when Alvarez has made 80 first team appearances for the world champions.
The Argentine side's confirmation of the transfer of the 23-year-old comes a day after La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the move was nearing completion.
Inter have yet to confirm the transfer on their official website, but are expected to make an announcement later on Wednesday.Alvarez has reportedly signed a five-year deal worth ?1.8m per annum with the 2010 Champions League winners.
Inter were eager to add some creativity to their squad ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, and new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has now secured the reinforcement he was searching for in the form of Alvarez, who was also being monitored by Arsenal and Roma.
