Liverpool don't want Faouzi Ghoulam - they want straight cash deal for Alberto MorenoKlopp wants a left-back but not the Algeria international
Liverpool have no interest in Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam as they seek a £15million cash deal for Alberto Moreno.Reports in Italy suggested that a potential swap had been discussed between the clubs which would see the unsettled Algeria international head for Anfield.
However, the ECHO understands that Ghoulam isn’t a target for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp looks to sign a left-back to compete with James Milner for a starting spot. The Reds rejected an £11million offer from Napoli for Moreno last week and that remains the only bid they have received for the Spanish full-back.
Liverpool are holding out for £15million and are confident they will get it given the level of interest shown in Moreno. His former club Sevilla, AC Milan, Inter Milan and two Premier League clubs have all enquired about the 24-year-old, who is surplus to requirements at Anfield.
Moreno has made 109 appearances for the Reds since his £12million move from Sevilla three years ago. He was relegated to bench duty for most of last season with Klopp favouring Milner in that defensive role.
Liverpool had initially hoped to snap up Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon this summer but the exciting teenager is expected to remain in the capital and join Tottenham instead. The Reds enquired about Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy but he’s set to sign for Manchester City.
